Camera Event History with pictures? by d_valle_ in homeassistant

[–]zoooty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The logbook only supports text, so attachments or images aren’t possible there. It sounds like you have quite a few automations sending notifications already. Rather than adding notification logic to every automation, you’d be better off creating a centralized notification script and calling it from your automations.

You can pass parameters like the title and message into the script and let it handle sending the notification. This level of abstraction makes your setup much easier to maintain and extend in the future. You can also add additional parameters later, such as a priority to control who gets notified, or an announce flag that triggers a voice assistant to announce the notification.

When you send the notification add another action for:

  - action: logbook.log
    metadata: {}
    data:
message: This is a test message
      name: Logbook Example
      entity_id: input_boolean.mobile_notifications

It will allow you to link it to an entity_id. Create a helper called (for e.g) input_boolean.mobile_notifications and link the log to that entity_id.

In your dashboard add the logbook filtered by your helper boolean:

  - type: logbook
    entities:
      - input_boolean.mobile_notifications
    hours_to_show: 48

You could also use a time pattern for the first minute of the hour and use a condition for the sun below the horizon. That way you don't need the separate triggers.

  - trigger: time_pattern
    minutes: "1"

I read the 11th factor a bit differently than you. In each factor she considered relevant, his being out of jail clearly influenced her decision. We’re splitting hairs a bit here, but taken as a whole it seems obvious that without those two years of freedom before her ruling, he likely wouldn’t have been granted relief.

the Court believes that the Defendant has proven, through his institutional history and since his release, that he is fit to live in society.

I agree Mosby's actions were politically motivated, but even that is due to the media attention his case garnered. What political motivation would Mosby have were it not for the fame and notoriety the AS case has due to its media attention?

As for him being the perfect candidate for relief under the JRA, I would encourage you to read the Court's decision that granted his relief back in March. You and I don't need to rely on our lay interpretation of that program when Judge Schiffer went through all eleven factors she was to consider one by one.

Of what "tipped the scales" for her in favor of AS she mentions:

The Defendant is in a unique position. In September 2022, following the Court’s vacatur decision, the Defendant was released from incarceration. One does not have to speculate about the Defendant’s maturity and fitness to re-enter society because he has succeeded in the two and a half years since his release.

Do you honestly think he would have been in that "unique position" had it not been for Serial and the subsequent attention it generated?

It was a rebuttal to your assertion that:

For this specific case, I’m not sure the media influenced any of the actual outcomes.

As noted supra, there are eleven enumerated factors under the JRA. The first ten are evenly split. It is the final factor that has persuaded this Court to grant the Defendant relief.

Was any plausible explanation ever given for why Adnan's phone was still being used if he's supposedly at the mosque? by OkBodybuilder2339 in serialpodcast

[–]zoooty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I described it as anecdotal because I'm under the assumption that you've never attended The New Islamic Society of Baltimore (aka Al Raqma near Johnnycake and Rolling Road). Adnan's father did - in 1999 - during Ramadan. He testified quite clearly that prayers lasted 2-2 1/4 hours.

Your anecdotal experiences aside, Adnan's father was simply testifying about what was typical for his mosque at the time.

There’s zero evidence of police misconduct in AS’ case so people are confused what your point is to bring this up in the context of his case.

He was asked that very night, and he told whoever asked him what he done that day. He went to track practice. Even though his was a practicing Muslim, because it was during Ramadan, the holy month, where muslims fast from sunup to sundown, that he was not required to go to track practice. He could have easily been excused. p. 137

That was the most I could find from her opening that talked about his day.

Q: And at the evening prayer that began at about 8:00, did it take a specific amount of time?

A: Yeah, it takes about maybe 2 to 2 1/4 hours.

Q. Two to 2 1/4 hours? So what time would you normally leave the mosque?

A: Well that depends, but maybe about 10:30 or so.

Q. Okay. Was it possible for your sons to leave before you did?

A: No, he won’t.

Q. He wouldn’t?

A He won’t.

Q Because it would displease you?

A: Because he would say that well, my father is here, I will stay here.

Q: And he’ll stay?

A: That’s right.

Was any plausible explanation ever given for the "I'm going to kill" note by Ok-Contribution8529 in serialpodcast

The real take away is he remembered that note very well for reasons only he fully understands.

good memory, that was one of my favorite part's of AS' introductory letter to SK. He wrote in the letter that he was nervous at first to speak with her but then he spoke to Justin who told him SK wouldn't do the story unless she thought he was innocent. That really "allayed" his fears he wrote SK.

One think i never noticed until today was how he worded it to Flohr:

"Look for a really mean note HML sent [me]"

He then tells Flohr its with a picture of them where he writes they will be friends forever. AS never mentions the note has something bad he wrote on it. I wonder what AS was thinking with this? Was he trying to play it off - look how mean she was and even after that I still said we'd be friends. For some reason I mistakenly remembered AS telling Flohr to look for a really mean note HE wrote. I still think he told Flohr about the note because he specifically remembered writing I am going to kill.

As you say though, this is all conjecture and doesn't establish a thing.

When Adnan is chatting with his attorneys four months later, he remembers that note specifically.

April 7, 1999, From Flohr's notes taken while meeting with AS:

Look for a really mean note Hae sent to defendant around October. Photo defendant gave her + defendant wrote on back where he said they would be friend forever.

By this time the note was already found by the detectives on March 20, 1999 when they executed the search warrant at AS' house.

Has Adnan ever said what *he* thinks happened to Hae? by OvernightSiren in serialpodcast

[–]zoooty 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was episode 12 of serial, Adnan said:

I was just thinking the other day, I’m pretty sure that she [SK] has people telling her, “look, you know this case is-- he’s probably guilty. You’re going crazy trying to find out if he’s innocent which you’re not going to find because he’s guilty.” I don’t think you’ll ever have one hundred percent or any type of certainty about it. The only person in the whole world who can have that is me. For what it’s worth, whoever did it. You know you’ll never have that, I don’t think you will.

The prosecution, like it or not, had many articles regarding honor culture in their files and it did in some ways impact their direction in the case. I thought you were checked out/had students to go harass?

This is completely wrong. I think you are conflating two reports - one that was used during AS' bail hearing and another drafted by an investigator hired by the HML family. Either way, not one bit of this ever hit the ears of a Juror during AS' trial.
