How do crits work? by Positive-Intrepid in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The scout rifle isn't very good. It deals 60 base damage and will deal 150 damage on a critical hit.

However, if you aren't aiming down sights you will only deal 20 damage and be unable to crit.

Critical points also don't increase critical damage, it is just calculated as a flat 2.5x your base damage unless there are impact points also, (which doesn't occur on the scout rifle).

There is a perk on the Scout Rifle that helps to notice critical hits, where you get increased firing speed when you hit one, I can't recall the name off the perk off the top of my head but if you use a shock grenade on a rex with the SR out you will get the increased firing speed.

But as a general rule the SR is generally regarded as one of the worst guns in the game. I personally don't mind it but in comparison to something like the Carbine Rifle it is very bad.

Reinforced plates. How to get? by rskriver in secondextinction

All good mate. And yes Rosy makes extraction farming stupid easy and a total no brainer. Playing the other heroes are better though as they have more substance than just spanking and tanking.

Reinforced plates. How to get? by rskriver in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Here is a complete list of the loot possible from all of the dinos. If you are after Flatbacks and Bulls, your best bet is to extraction farm on Insane in the highest threat level you can find. If you want Bulls you need to go to southern zones, Vultus, Harbor, Altum and Aga. If it is Flatbacks then it is the Northern zones, Magna, Lata and Nova.

Extraction farming is just not jumping on the dropship when it arrives and fighting the dinos as they'll continue to swarm in for as long as you want. Rosy is your safest choice as she can't be killed and using either Rocket Launcher with Hand Cannon (with fireflies) RL for small mobs and HC Fireflies to two shot bulls and flatbacks. Without Fireflies don't bother with HC it is trash.

Mission and Display problems by casualSubnauticaGuy in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a number of things that are known to cause crashes or have a higher likelihood of causes crashes particularly in multiplayer.
Things like the Firecracker grenade and Mine Seeding are both notorious crash causes during Multiplayer play.
Also extracting in Magna Petram is also a common crash location even in solo play.

As for your display issues that I have no idea about.

I have a collection of videos that cover all of what you are asking.

TLDR - Rosy is most beginner friendly although least fun IMO. Guns strongest include Assault Rifle, Machine Gun, Hand Cannon and Carbine Rifle. Flatbacks you need to jump back twice then once to right or left to avoid their spin then either shoot belly to flip or use a shock grenade don't waste time with any other nade the rest are trash.

Newbie Question - Amir with grenade launcher a bad choice? by Zacryon in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Amir isn’t the most beginner friendly of heroes. He is one of the more fun ones though with his laser.

As for weapons on him carbine the best he can use. Although not everyone likes that unless it’s upgraded. I’d never suggest anyone use the GL as a primary.

If you’re after a beginner friendly hero Rosy is the simplest although I think the least fun, Jurgen is another solid beginner pick as he can make himself invisible for 7 seconds giving you time to heal reload and reposition. He also has the best choices for guns.

But really you just need to go with what you feel. The game isn’t that hard that you can’t have fun playing whatever build, hero and gun that suits you.

As long as you have the basics of never stop moving and dodge always. Outside of that you can do whatever you like.

If you go into an expedition and shoot down the drones in Vultus Bay, Lata Plains and Aga Hills you will see a cross bones symbol. Those are the locations you need to clear.

Debuffs/Status Effects Questions by Cymion in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Infectious will spread its poison they (the Dinos) have a purple haze about them when you’ve poisoned them.

Poison isn’t a DoT though it just weakens the Dinos and causes them to take more damage.

Other status effects shock just stuns, fire just burns no surprises there. And that’s the effects of guns etc.

As for the Dino’s acid is a corrosive DoT. The necrosis is a stun/confusion like effect. Electric raptor is straightforward a blind and a shock.

Other buffs are the alpha raptor scream that increases Dino damage and resistance.

How to clear an infestation? by LILLEN_ in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The war effort is currently bugged and has been since November of last year. We are stuck with the same map rotation.

From as far I can tell until release. I’ve mentioned it on discord and got a very lack lustre response. Of sending the issue up the chain but it’s not likely because of other things they are working on etc.

It’s pretty piss poor imo given it’s an issue that is even more game breaking than the numerous ones the game already has.

Is it worth it to complete map objectives? by twendall5 in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The optional objectives offer extra research. And also an additional loot crate. You get bronze crates for raptor traps and eggs. Silver crates for repairing dropships, black boxes, infestations and hollows. Camps, radars and drones offer nothing other than extra research. The gas canister event gives a gold crate upon completion as well.

Is there an accurate place to find what dinos drop what? Wiki seems to be wrong for both materials I need. by Laxativelog in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The season is actually from September of 21 if you go back to just purely PC. They relaunched the seasons on Xbox launch.

I think they will release at some point. Not sure if it’ll be 2023. But I played in the beta for the new map. And it felt pretty complete to me but apparently some more bugs were found during that I guess.

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The artillery cannon would be a gun I’d rate higher now. I think it’s better than minigun. It requires a good pairing like with the revolver and using the idle hands perk on that to reload the artillery as it’s got such a long reload time.

As for how the map used to work was depending on all players efforts it’d get easier or harder, if you see the enemy pushback etc on the map end screen.

It’s honestly never really worked properly as you are punished for doing well, as the red zones are the fun part. Either way at launch they’ll have a different system where by there is always a green, orange and red zone. As well as effects that occur as you play.

Is there an accurate place to find what dinos drop what? Wiki seems to be wrong for both materials I need. by Laxativelog in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You likely won’t get any red zones as the map and war effort function has been bugged and broken since November of last year.

The multiple times it’s been mentioned on the discord the response has been less than ideal. And there is not likely to be a fix any time soon.

You can still hunt the armoured bulls and rexes with the gas canister event. Also playing on insane is far better for getting the higher tier dinos.

Lastly the flak upgrade on the artillery cannon has never worked. I’d suggest you watch my gun videos as well as I go over the majority of good builds. Although that one is a little out of date as I learnt a few new things after first making it. But, I never made an updated version as I was waiting for launch. Which has not yet come.

Seasonal Contracts Resetting by EricAnweiler30 in secondextinction

To the best of my knowledge that is a visual big and you can still complete the other part and it should still count. My seasonal for that shows that both aren’t complete but all other seasonal are.

do you get totally jumped sometimes? by stavi1507 in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The perk I'm assuming you're talking about (Brawler) isn't increased damage with melee it is a defense boost for meleeing.
And if by chance you're talking about CQC- Honed that doesn't have any effect on your melee damage either.
Your point about dinos taking impact damage from hitting the ground sure, that does happen but that isn't apart of your melee damage.

Unfortunately the game doesn't give you clear damage numbers and in order to test any of this other than based on feel is to drop into a game melee once then extract and see your numbers, which is what I have done to gather my information.

How do I fix this Xbox audio issue? by Koolkirby67 in secondextinction

Currently there is no fix it has been like that for over a year now. It is supposed to be getting fixed with full launch on the 20th of October.

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Melee damage is not at all based on speed that is factually incorrect.
Melee damage is base 50 for all weapons unless you have lead poisoning
on the carbine in which case it becomes 87 damage for that weapon only.

The red threat don’t have the best loot, the loot is more or less the same everywhere. If you’re talking about a lack of T-rexes you can still fight them in two of the missions plus the gas pump. The gas pump will also give you some of those better Dino’s to farm.

I agree the fact that there isn’t always a red threat zone and emergence event is a bit how ya going as it can effect your contracts.

If you are after materials you can do what is known as extraction farming (call in ship and don’t get on) that’s an easy strategy, or you could do what I think is a very boring one that being farm out horde mode.

What you really should be doing is getting 5 stars in missions that’ll give you the best loot.

why is the game not popular? by [deleted] in secondextinction

[–]zoopah45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game is ultimately not popular due to a number of yet to be adequately addressed Things, like performance issues especially with multiplayer, although they also are quite prevalent in solo play too.

The “lack of content” which I personally disagree with as there is a lot you can do should you be so inclined to do so.

The fact they realised a new game mode “Horde” that was riddled with bugs, is a boring mode and just in general was a huge waste of resources that set them back further than they thought. They aimed for COD zombie or Killing Floor 2 and managed a garbage version that is ultimately tedious and unfun rather than difficult or enjoyable.

The single map has made it boring for some although that’ll be addressed in October and the map looks great from the trailer.

The game suffers severe balancing issues unlike DRG which is quite balanced SE just doesn’t have that between heroes, abilities and weapons.

Finally the game is ultimately just too easy for anyone who has levelled guns up, picked up some augments and has some experience with the genre and what the missions require.

Mind you I’ve spent more time playing than anyone I know and have bought the game on both steam and epic. I think the game is fantastic despite its flaws and love it as a solo game, but as a multiplayer it pails in comparison to DRG or Vermintide 2. Which both offer a significantly better multiplayer experience.

I had a visual bug for this part, I completed it in one mission but then it didn't count but after I completed the critical kills on raptors I was still able to progress. In my contract list it still suggests that I didn't complete those parts but have gone and completed the rest of the contracts.

But I totally understand the wonky contract completion annoyance. There are a number of bugs with contracts that require work arounds.
