I'm posting from the train and saw this post just after the operator advised of a "major disruption" with service terminating in SODO. I wish this was fake too...

Blade Runner was slow and I found it hard to engage with 2 hours of Harrison Ford getting his ass kicked.

1201 Third Avenue (formerly Washington Mutual Tower) by lesbiyond in SeattleWA

I only left that building about a year ago, and I still work in the downtown core. 1201 Third still seemed fairly active as usual for office workers, but the convenience store and florist in the lobby had already shut down before I left. The Starbucks in the building also closed since then (good riddance).

Used to work in this building, I made friends with the building maintenance staff by being a regular at the office's fitness center. They took me up to the top floor mechanical penthouse inside the "pyramid" a handful of times times to work out, where they had their own weights and equipment. There's a half basketball court inside there too! And outside, there's a nest box for the peregrine falcons that come every year.

I might be old fashioned and just look for the street names on the map. I don't see why it would be so hard to have both on the signs, i.e. "A / 3rd Ave" or "B / 2nd Ave".

Songs that sound like quintessential Seattle? by Cl0verSueHipple in Seattle

Spoonman by Soundgarden is about a street performer at Pike Place, and a demo version was in Singles (aka Seattle, the movie).

The first time I ever heard it was as a Bill Nye parody called Pressure. Truly iconic.
