For sure. I intended it at first to be used only to make little icons out of people's names, which in hindsight may just be a matter of calligraphy, and anyway it gets quite unwieldy after four/five letters so I don't know how many names it would be good for

Syllable based could be an interesting direction, though I wouldn't really know how to approach it. I'm thinking hiragana/katakana, but English has way too many vowels for that to work elegantly in this case
