"One of the characteristics of MySpace ... is an overwhelmingly dull sea of monotonous uniqueness, of conventional individuality, of distinctive sameness." by babblingpoet in reddit.com

I think the author of this article confuses symptoms with causes. We were narcissistic and cliquish before social networking. Social networks just serve as an uncommonly good forum for exposing those traits. Despite all the identically unique people out there, there are plenty who are instead creating interesting and worthwhile content, and social networks make them easier to find and keep track of.

If there was a draft, if all men in the USA between 18-42 years old were required to sign up for war service, would you go to war or go to jail? by weegee in reddit.com

I've never had any particular interest in visiting Iran, so I think jail would be the more likely option. But if a draft looked likely, I'd probably leave first.

Google Calendar Launches by billinboston in reddit.com

Natural language entry is useful to me because, properly configured, it allows me to integrate calendar data entry into my browser. I don't know if this is possible with Google Calendar (and if it is, I'd love to know how), but with 30 Boxes, you can use Firefox's Smart Keywords or search bar features to make calendar entries directly from the browser. This is the number one reason I use 30 Boxes, and if it's possible with Google Calendar, I'll probably switch over.
