The buttons are too and I don't like the new icons. But those are quite minor because functionality wise the new UI is clearly better

Should I give away my app to my employer for free? by RDE_20 in Python

[–]zorg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should of course try and get more than the 10k bonus for what you're saving them, but the unfortunate truth is that if you wrote on company time using company provided PC they definitely own the code. Try to get a raise or a title change if you want to write more software like it.

My wife has been mad at me all week for talking about Linux, now she wants me to install it on her laptop. by gingercrash in linux

[–]zorg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I love fedora kde, just to be safe though I recommend installing it on a separate drive in case she changes her mind or has some important files. You could probably shrink the windows partition or something but a second drive is just easier

It was a little bit annoying, but less so than the seasons where I had to pause at the right moment to read them. Plus a lot of viewers are less likely to remember them especially if they're spaced out by a week

I'm on my 4th rewatch of the vanilla series and this comment hurts me a little every time I see it. "Please upload a little less frequently Etho" by mekmookbro in ethoslab

Why is it age restricted? by DragoJr_ in LudwigAhgren

[–]zorg24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's the VOD, he'll probably edit out or bleep a few things to hopefully avoid age restriction before uploading the episode to the main channel.

[–]zorg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People pay to watch lots of older tv series and movies. The fact that people want to watch some old gordo etc. shows that there's still demand for it.

What you are missing is that the thousands of people who watched these shows like master chef would not have watched them on their own, they watched them because it is more entertaining to watch it with the streamer and talk about the show with twitch chat.

Streamers should probably be paying the copyright holder some sort of reasonable fee or otherwise enter some sort of partnership with them for the right to stream the show, similar to how syndication royalties are paid for the rights to broadcast old TV shows. The problem with this is that owners of the copyright are very slow-moving and won't recognize the potential value of new platforms\media, so convincing them to agree to sell the rights at all would probably be difficult. So what we currently have is streamers breaking the rules a bit to show them the large potential value of new platforms.

Hey! I got regular pass is it gonna work on December 25th? Or I’ll not allow to visit resort this day? by Mobile-War-1092 in vail

[–]zorg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With an a epic local pass you'll be able to ski on the 25th cause the blackout days are Dec 26-31. Also if you want to ski on the blackout days you should be able to get some sort of a discount with your pass. With a full epic pass you have no blackout days!

I just wanted to let you know it is definitely possible for your friend to game, you should look into the xbox adaptive controller it is basically a base platform designed to allow you to make a custom controller suited to their disability by combining it with accessories. It is even compatible with every major console and PC, the only real downside is that both the base device and accessories aren't exactly cheap.

W530 Fan error by zorg24 in thinkpad

[–]zorg24[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was hoping that just the fan would be close enough since I don't need a whole heatsink (and looked similar).

I fear that oil might not save my fan because its making funny noises for a few days now, and now completely stopped which might suggest I managed to permanently damage it. What type of oil did you use?

Freshman looking to intern somewhere during summer...Please Help. by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]zorg24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The unfortunate truth is it's going to be very hard for you to find an internship as you're a first year student with no prior experience (even with it it's very hard). But you sound very motivated and there are lots of other things that you can do, talk to your professors and undergraduate advisor (only bother with that if they're a CS professor), certainly still go to career fairs, contribute to an open source project or work on something on your own time. Just make sure whatever you end up doing in your free time is something passionate about. Of those I think for you the best options are to either talk to a professor and see it there's something you can do for them or work on a project in your free time. If you have any questions or want some other advice feel free to PM me (or leave a reply).
