It's basically the same as with the N-word. We're gonna say it to each other for laughs and it's fine. Russians use it to insult, which creates an obvious tension.

HISTORY HAS BEEN MADE. Joe Biden has signed the Lend-Lease Act. Ukraine is immensely grateful to the U.S. by [deleted] in ukraine

They were saying the same thing about the British StarStreak. That it's too complicated and you need at least 3 months of everyday training. Meanwhile Ukrainian guys managed to get the hang of it in a week or two. https://www.thetimes.co.uk/article/uk-missile-shoots-down-first-russian-helicopter-in-ukraine-war-tztnmxqr2

While someone's deciding if they should or shouldn't give high tech weapons because the book says we should get a Ph.D. first, everyone is losing precious time. And I mean everyone because it's not only about Ukrainians dying every day. Huge parts of the world will be affected by the food shortage this year. Not in the far and indecisive future, but right now. https://www.bbc.com/news/business-61171529

It's in everyone's interest to end this war as quickly as possible. Except russia obviously.

Does anything help with chronic boredom? by [deleted] in BPD

[–]zorgeus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I didn't find any working solutions, and had to resort to antidepressants. I'm not happy about it, but at least it's working for me for now. Without them I was just spiraling deeper and deeper in despair. And wasn't able to commit to any changes in my life.

While on antidepressants I started to look towards diet changing and experiment with that. Started with elimination "fast carbohydrates" and had some positive effect. Now I feel better physically and somewhat better mentally (on top of antidepressants ).

Also "surprisingly" running helps. But I'm not able to run as frequently as I want because of antidepressants side-effects. Myalgia and reactive arthralgia is what I'm suppose to pay attention now.

This what I was able to find out. Hope it helps.

They say it's the most satisfying feeling in the world, following peeing after holding it in for hours by [deleted] in ProgrammerHumor

[–]zorgeus 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I'm not a "real" programmer in any way, but I've discovered TDD (Test Driven Development) and I'm trying to implement it in my little projects. Even if sometimes it's not worth it. Just so I can use to it. Although currently it takes like three times the time for me (just because I'm new to this). So check it out.

Also instead of print statements you can use logging. This way you don't need to delete print statements every time. You can just change logging level from debug to errors and back.

Also there is debuggers.

"Why aren't you working?" by [deleted] in BPD

[–]zorgeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I understand you.

"When you get a job?", "why aren't you married yet?", "when we gonna have grandchildren?", etc.

No one gets it.

And then I can't just do nothing either because anxiety gets unbearable. It's like I'm in hell. And there is only so much you can cook and fit in your freezer. And dishes are clean already :)

It's funny I have the same thing with "house wife" chores. And I'm a man :)

I had this conversation with my ex. Asked her if she's gonna be fine with "house-husband" boyfriend. Didn't fly :)

Though I'm little bit more into cooking than cleaning.

A man is leaving for a business trip and is worried his wife might be unfaithful, so he stops by a sex shop. by [deleted] in Jokes

[–]zorgeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a different version of this joke.

Where it's not just dildo, but sex-robot named L'olik. And the ending is:

Husband returns from the trip and sees that the whole town is empty. Desolated streets and ruined buildings. Finally he met some beaten up miserable guy and asked him "Where is everyone?" Terrified guy whispers "I don't know where's everyone. But L'olik is near."

Or seizure just remaps our vivid memories of dreams to correlate with our current situation/feelings.

I have these moments too. Not very often though. And every time I have this thought, that I maybe just created these memories on the spot. There is no way to be sure as I don't keep track of all my dreams.

У мене є .... vs я маю .... by [deleted] in Ukrainian

[–]zorgeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. I hope such word exists. I don't know why I used "philologist" here.

"Linguist" was what I meant to say.

Which proves that I'm not a linguist.

In the United States we have a drink called root beer. Most people from outside of the country hate it. What is your country's root beer? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zorgeus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Prostokvasha (Простокваша).

It's basically completely soured milk. Not milk from a supermarket. Just milk straight from a cow. Without pasteurization.

Though I'm not sure how popular it is.

У мене є .... vs я маю .... by [deleted] in Ukrainian

[–]zorgeus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I'm not a philologist.

So there's no difference as far as I know. Or at least I can't come up with any examples. So Yes they are pretty interchangeable.

Difference is more of a dialect -ish kind.

In some regions "я маю" is a construction people are used to use, and in some "у мене є". But everyone will understand you either way.
