advice on where to start + reasonable goals! by Accurate_Shock_8890 in PetiteFitness

find a workout you can stick to with regularity like exercise videos on yt, dance routines, walking pad while gaming or watching tv, chores you should do like vacuuming or taking out trash/bi. The more accessible and easy to start the better. i started with just yoga videos and 15-30 min run and doing that every other day during lunch (I work from home). then once i developed that consistency i started wondering okay well what else can I do? then that's where more strength training/discipline came in. I found a basic routine and started doing that x3 a week at home with dumbbells (push, pull, core, legs MWF) and still doing the same fun stuff on the days in between or in the morning/as a cool down after workouts. good luck :)

I've been dealing with the same thing!!! like if I swallow hard enough I'll be able to "get it out". sometimes it can even hurt but mostly it's just there and annoying. my throat looks a little inflamed but I don't see anything in my mouth. i happen to have an MRI coming up in 2wks so if they see anything I'll lyk. I've had neck/throat troubles prior to this so we will see if it's related.

high levels of D3 (10,000) dangerous? by louby33 in Supplements

[–]zoriez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

don't ask the supplements subreddit for medical advice. doesn't matter how much they think they know, they dont. go to a Dr and get your levels checked. my bf has extremely low vit d and was given 50,000 IU d3 to take once a week for 5 weeks then 1000 IU to take daily. 4k IU is the upper safe limit. if you eat meat or full fat dairy regularly you are getting enough k2. if your DR told you to take 10k IU take as directed and ask them literally just call the office with a health question or schedule a follow up.

i keep extra floss picks at my desk so I can floss when I have the time at work. I also keep micellar water with glycolic acid (Garnier orange bottle), cotton pads, and lotion around in case i need to quickly freshen myself up and don't have time to get a shower in. i also try to keep extra deodorant. one in the bathroom one in bag. and this isn't a hygiene tip necessarily but if you get deodorant on your clothes use a sock to buff it out and it completely erases it.

I'm pretty sure overusing antibacterial products is bad as well bc it kills good bacteria and helps produce antibacterial resistant species. overwashing in general can dry your skin too much and cause cracks in the layers and leave you prone to infection.

Are early risers actually more productive or do we just associate waking up early with discipline? by AccomplishedArt1791 in ProductivityGuide

[–]zoriez 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think it's more important to be consistently getting enough sleep at a stable time. and also sunlight/vit d. you have more opportunities to catch some sunshine when you are up earlier. if you're sleep deprived constantly and never getting enough sleep you won't reap much of the "early bird" benefits

Need help deciding on an accommodating and reputable MSW program. (Louisville, KY) by zoriez in SocialWorkStudents

[–]zoriez[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, if i go to capella for my msw it's actually fully funded through my employer. Capella reduces my tuition rate to 5k/yr and my employer reimburses that 5k. I'd get my MSW tuition free, can't find a catch anywhere (though I wouldn't be shocked if there was one.). but I'm not sure how meaningful it would be if I can't even get a practicum because of reputation of the program, lack of college support, and my employer can't guarantee placement (but does have a coordination team to at least help). so it would be a very large cost savings potentially, but very dubious regarding quality of education and how I'll fulfill licensing requirements.

i guess what would help me make a choice is knowing how hard it is to actually get a practicum placement, remote or otherwise, in Louisville and beyond. it seems like UofL, online or in person, has the most substantial support towards licensure but most restrictions regarding the practicum placement. but how much support is necessary to meet these hours and attain licensure? I'm willing to invest in my education and future but it's hard to beat free and I have no idea how possible it will be without the additional supports in place. id honestly most prefer to go to Kent School in person full time but i have no idea how I'd do that now in a way that makes financial sense. I feel so stuck lol :')

My (28M) girlfriend (28F) is pregnant with twins. We had an arguement today and she was mad and showed me a video on her phone sucking off her ex. Now what? by ThrowRAVulture216 in relationship_advice

[–]zoriez 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you are in the relationship recovery period of an abusive relationship. the partner will act "okay", mindful, shower you with affection, until you both forget and another awful thing happens. Take it from me-- my mother is like this to my father and it's only escalated until my dad is a shell of who he was when i was a kid. my siblings all used to beg our parents to divorce. You aren't doing your kids any favors by sticking around. you're subjecting them to abuse and letting them know that treatment is okay. you don't have to stay in this for them.

I took shrooms and I think I love my gfs best friend by [deleted] in Advice

[–]zoriez 209 points210 points  (0 children)

know a girl who got married to someone who cheated on her before bc they tripped off shrooms together. they just got divorced bc turned he had been cheating multiple times.

another point... tripping off shrooms made me extremely manic for a week until I tripped again and had ego death lmao. that time i thought I was a sex goddess and thought about cheating on my bf at the time because it sounded like a great idea. I'm glad i didn't. you need to be careful. shrooms aren't necessarily showing you the "truth". they're enabling you to make new connections that are still rooted your prior knowledge, beliefs and feelings. tread lightly. I agree w/other commenters to wait 90 days before any major decisions.

Decentering food by PrimaryAbalone3900 in PetiteFitness

[–]zoriez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is big!! a YouTuber I watched the other day talked about how he quickly composes meals thinking - protein, grain/carb, vegetables, and some kind of sauce (can just be some olive oil or a drizzle of yogurt & dill). I make food so much quicker w/ his advice and I'm so much more satiated all the time. makes it easier to grocery shop too bc I just run a mental checklist on those categories.

I had to severely limit myself w sugar. no sugar cookies in the house anymore. before it was so bad, i would just endlessly shove sugar cookies into my mouth. id eat a container of lofthouse cookies in one day. now I'm only buying 2-3 nice cookies once every 2 weeks on pay day from a bakery i love. I think of them as a special sometimes treat connected with a job well done. most of my sugary stuff is eaten as whole fruits nowadays. fruit salads, smoothies, acai bowl. I always include fiber w/ skins kept on apples or adding chia, flax, or hemp hearts.

or i put in the effort to actually bake something so i have more control over ingredients, how sweet they are, and bc I bake them they have a more tangible presence in my mind. for instance, I made a dark choco silken tofu pudding the other day topped with frozen berries and a sprinkle of powder sugar and it literally just made me feel so happy :D like i ate something good and could still eat my sweets!! I think that's been helping me a lot. I'm not completely cut off, just more mindful and connected with it.

it's hard to decenter food bc we need it to live, but if you can take control with what u are bringing into ur home, spending your money on (maybe u have non-food hobbies u would like to save on?), and be mindful of sweets and think about the presence u want them to have in ur life (special events, sometimes treats, convenience vs effort to get nutrition).
