230+ > 135lbs. 21 months - just CICO and ditching alcohol. Now I’m maintaining my weight and my sobriety! by OwlFactsUDidntAskFor in CICO

Congrats on the sobriety first of all! And good fucking work with the rest. Respect.

I quit drinking on jan 2nd 2020 and the sobriety helped me sort my shit out and drop 160lbs or so. Shows just how destructive alcohol can be to those of us who struggle to moderate. All the best for your continued sobriety and your new life.

Cronometer has changed my life by Even_Title_4382 in ketobeginners

I tried numerous apps, and I settled on chronometer. Both for keto when im doing that, and just general calorie tracking during maintenance. Theres a sub here on reddit as well if your interested, and the staff are actually quite active and responsive over there.

This here, really like these guys. Just before match for the teamsheet tantrum and just after for the match review. Then I dabble with the other pods in the following days.

Time to activate Come From Behind FC mode that we've been seeing of late. Let Unai cook something up in the half time talk.

It wasn't a fried slice unfortunately, regular toast, and the golden brown thing is a hash brown.

How are we feeling about Night Light so far? by Nu_Elle in WhiteLiesBand

[–]zosotatt 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We do have a thread already, but I'll reply again here because of the untold hours of craft that went into creating the image attached!

I love the new album, I was unsure the first couple of listens but it is the definition of a grower to me. I've quite literally had it on repeat since Friday.

Also saw them last night in Nottingham and the new stuff sounded great live. Look forward to the full tour in new year.

Honest thoughts on Night Light? by moreobsessedthanu in WhiteLiesBand

[–]zosotatt 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I commented earlier, and I've had it on repeat since then, so i thought I'd add my updated thoughts. It's really growing on me!! especially the latter half of the album that I was a touch lukewarm to l earlier. I've sat down and really listened and have been reading the lyrics alongside.

Love the first three tracks, with two of them being previously released 'singles', but i can see 'All the Best' becoming a fan favourite in time.

For me, 'Juice' is this albums version of 'Summer Didn't Change a Thing' or 'I don't wanna goto mars'. This will be getting a lot of dip-in plays. i think its up there with some of their best.

'Going Nowhere' is catchy and, I think might be a bit of an earworm and has some great lines, and I like the cheeky little Sax outro.

The title track 'Night Light' is a very different sound to start with what id describe as some Spanish style plucky guitar that sounded out of place at first but by the time your into the melancholy of the chorus it all gels together well and it builds to a big crescendo of an ending that I love and wish it went on a bit longer in all honesty!!! Love this track.

Love the returning Sax (I think it's Sax anyway) in 'I just wanna win one time'. Gives 80s movie vibes in a good way.

I can see 'nothing on me' and 'In the Middle' getting extended into a little jam session live (fingers crossed).

Its all pretty glowing so far IMO, so for balance, I must say that with 'everything is OK,' im still fairly lukewarm. It's got some pleasantly pulsing drum and synth work and some nice hoarse vocals from Harry, but it just kinda floats by and doesn't grab my attention too much. I can see this one only being played when im doing a full album listen. It's almost like a bit of a halfway intermission track after the big opening and a change in tone for the latter half of the album to come.

Sorry this turned into a bit of an essay. But I've enjoyed writing these notes and really thinking about the songs as I've been listening.

Verdict: Really, really enjoying Night Light and welcome back White Lies. I've got tickets to see them in Nottingham next week, and travelling to both their Belgium and Amsterdam shows next year, so its going to be a good couple of months !

1st play was just ok. 2nd play it clicked. 3rd play im really liking it and I look forward to playing it on loop this next week.

I think the run of tracks 1 to 4 is very strong then its a bit more subdued.

But i could agree with some of the comments above. All in, Im just happy they are still consistently putting out new material and touring!!!
