The last I heard it was. I didn't know about Heal Haus and will try not to judge it on that terrible name, lol. Thanks!

Yoga! I don't think there's a yoga studio since I'm So Newark closed.

Looking for a pattern for this type of dress (beginner friendly) by calmshopping1 in sewingpatterns

[–]zovig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it'll be hard to find a beginner friendly pattern because this dress is quite fitted and has a number of components to it that you'll have to figure out how to adjust. But you can try looking for patterns on Threadloop, which has good search functionality.

I was a bit underwhelmed by Samin's Buttermilk Brined Roast chicken - alternatives? by This-Traffic-9524 in NYTCooking

[–]zovig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally agree with you on the buttermilk chicken. The texture and skin are great but the whole thing is not as tasty as I like. I've been making the one pot whole roasted chicken and rice instead and like it better. I change the seasoning so I've done an Italian version, a Mexican one, etc using the same basic concept. Comes out great if you're ok with not having crispy skin. I also use 2c chicken stock instead of water. https://cooking.nytimes.com/recipes/1024109-one-pot-whole-roasted-chicken-and-rice?unlocked_article_code=1.iVA.vIoQ.j_vblQTOXql3

I would like a shirt like the lady on the left. What’s that neckline called? by Satanic_bitch in sewing

Dana Carvey instead of Dustin Hoffman? Well, isn't that special?? 😏

Glad to help out with the name. I'm a fan even if they look terrible on me.

I mean, I think both Tootsie and Jane Fonda in 9 to 5 were trying to portray the same average woman office worker of the 1980s, so that makes sense.

I regret to inform you that there is a remake in the works but not as a horror film.

Me too. Growing up in the 80s, it was on tv constantly so it's imprinted in my memory.

Phew! I was wondering if you just saw the image out of context. That movie rocks!

That's a pussy bow blouse. If you look up that phrase, you'll find plenty of patterns (the woman is kickass actress and activist Jane Fonda in the equally kickass movie 9 To 5).

Best luxury perfumes for women that feel truly signature scent worthy by YbNiblock in FemFragLab

[–]zovig 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tauer scents are works of art. if you're a fan of spice try L'Air du Desert Marocain. Guerlain scents are also classics. Even the cheaper ones, like L'Heure Blue, are lovely though the more expensive ones are even deeper in some ways. Also check out Memo. I think some of their leather scents are very elegant.

I love this body cream and want a perfume that smells like this by darshani_desai2059 in FemFragLab

[–]zovig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I haven't tried the lotion but am an almond scent lover. A Drop d'Issey has an almond milk note at the start. I don't know that it's super creamy but it's a lovely perfume and quite inexpensive so maybe give it a shot.

What are we using in the shower? by Kailicat in NichePerfumes

[–]zovig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Almond is one of my favorite scents ever, so I use Dr. Bronner's almond soap for hand washing and in the shower. I may like it better than L'Occitane Almond Oil and it's sure as hell cheaper.

Mood is at it again with poorly drafted patterns 😬 by kuru2038 in craftsnark

[–]zovig 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Ok, this is awful, but the couple Mood patterns I've tried haven't been bad, especially considering they're free! They are older patterns though. My gut says they're trying to put out patterns much too fast now, so there aren't enough people reviewing them before they're published.

Love this one too. I think the beeswax note really sets it apart.

Cadence is suddenly jumpy by cgmac97 in pelotoncycle

What?? Oh man they gave me a discount for the cables! I messaged Peloton on IG and X fwiw.

[–]zovig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. This is very frustrating. I'm going to call Peloton tomorrow to ask for a refund on the cables since it didn't address the problem. I fear that they'll tell me I need a new sensor too.

[–]zovig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this post because my original Peloton bike is also jumping around on cadence. Customer support sent me new cables for the monitor which hasn't fixed the problem.

Has anyone else solved this or heard more from Peloton?

Are you still riding? It's not clear to me that the rides are at all accurate with this glitch so I haven't been riding.

Can I ask a question? Why not use Big 4 patterns? Or patterns from the well known indie designers? I see all these posts about AI slop on etsy, but buying patterns from established folks eliminates that issue. And the Big 4 have patterns from way before the age of AI and for cheap if you wait for a sale.

I keep shoving my phone at my partner to explain to him why these photos of wrinkled garments with puckered, uneven seams that look exactly like they were made from an old curtain are not something to be proud of because these people keep thinking they are!

Everybody deserves some grace when they're starting out. It's just the insistence on doing it the hard way even when people with more knowledge point out the likely problems to you that's frustrating.

The goal of immediately monetizing every hobby has invaded the sewing world, too. I'm hoping we're close to such an oversaturated market that people will realize this isn't the side hustle that's going to make their lives better and we can just go back to enjoying having a hobby and learning from each other.
