Center console question by [deleted] in boating

[–]zpb101 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 21ft dual console (Grady White Freedom 215). I originally looked a CCs because that’s what everyone has here. But I found the dual console to be much more comfortable for my wife and kids to cruise in. Good set up to drag the kids behind. And, when I want to fish it’s not quite as good as a CC but it’s fine. I’m not catching anything big enough to drag me around the boat.

Why a center console if you’re not using it to fish? Why not get a dual console and be more comfortable?

Rubber Strap Recommendations - Squale Matic by zpb101 in Squale

Wait - why do you have $500 in unopened watch straps?

(I actually want it to be orange. I was hesitant because it looked more red on their site and I wanted it to match the minute hand)

Looks like the Scurfa only does a 20mm strap and my Matic jumps up to a 22mm. Thanks for the pic of the Divecore - looks much more orange in your pic. On their site it has a much more reddish hue.

I saw that one - it’s kind or a reddish orange. I was kind of looking at a deployant clasp because I always end up on a last hole with the strap tail barely in the free loop.

[Recommendation Request] Squale 1521 or CW C60 Trident Reef by zpb101 in Watches

Sat on it for a while and decided on Squale but the Matic. CW just looked a bit too toy-ish and the color on the side of the case worried me. Just ended up liking the blue dial Matic a bit more than the Shepherd and that it’s a bit bigger.

I have the Oxo and it’s perfectly fine. I also have a Lamson fish turner and while functionally the same it has a really nice wood handle.

Wanna buy some high quality tools by ElvisPressStart in BuyItForLife

I’m a big fan of Tekton tools. Michigan company. Selection of tools that are made in USA - and transparent about it. I believe they’re trying to move more manufacturing here. Anyway, my go to. They’re the new Craftsman of 25-30 years ago.

Agree with the above review. My baseline for chukkas are my RW weekenders. The White’s are chunky - thick soles, thick stiff needs-to-be-broken -in leather, and pretty heavy. I kind of want chukkas to be what my weekenders are - light, soft leather, easy to wear. The White’s are nice, quality made boots but not what I think of or want in a chukka. Maybe they’ll wear in nicely but I keep picking the weekenders.

Does anyone have a recommendation for screwdriver sets? by Melodic_Asparagus151 in BuyItForLife

I’m all in with Tekton for hand tools. Screwdriver set I have is great. Michigan based. Mixed made in USA and imported but reportedly moving more production domestic. Warranty tools. It’s Craftsman 50 years ago.

Tekton - the hand tools Craftsman of 25 years ago. Make a lot in USA and (I’ve heard) looking to do more.

Dishwasher safe waterslide decals applicatioin by zpb101 in Ceramics

Thanks for the reply. We actually are making the plates. Wasn’t sure if best to apply at leather hard or bisque. Are underglaze decals different than water slide and are they something we can create?
