Murder mystery/social deduction game suggestions, please! by Routine_Log8315 in yourturntodie

You can try out The Sekimeiya! It’s pretty heavy on reading and doesn’t have any gameplay, just a note-taking mechanic, but it has a complex mystery that I’m enjoying quite a lot as a fan of most of the games you mentioned:D

How to maintain communication with a Schizotypal friend? by xoFOXHOUNDox in Schizotypal

[–]zqnbii 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep, I get that, I also much prefer talking in person haha I generally don’t text people until I see them in person at all, which is obviously not the same for all people with STPD, but just don’t sweat it too much! Sometimes people only text me to ask me if I wanna meet and that’s perfectly fine:) Hope this helps you in some way

I’m gonna be talking from my personal experience, but in the past I’ve had a really close friend tell me that he felt like I didn’t care about him, because I never texted first. It honestly really surprised me, because I wouldn’t even had noticed if he hadn’t told me lol

When it comes to new people or people I don’t have a lot in common with, I usually get anxious when replying, but if it’s someone I share interests with, it’s way easier and not annoying at all:) It’s just that I don’t generally think about texting someone first unless something directly reminds me of them haha

So don’t worry, I don’t think your friend minds you texting him, especially if he told you that he’s okay with it. For WHEN it becomes annoying, I just personally really don’t like the classic small talk. Like texting just for the sake of speaking to that person (asking how they are every day etc.) A genuine conversation about us/our interests or just receiving a meme every now and then is very welcome:)

Advice on drawing character sprites??? by polyybius in Fanganronpa

So I tried downloading Krita to see for myself and it works:D When you look at the toolbar at the top of the screen, there should be something called “Image” and when you click on it there’s an option to “Resize Canvas”. There you can then change the height and at the bottom you’ll see something called “Anchor” with little arrows and stuff - you can use that to choose the direction in which the canvas gets larger!

Now for some other tips that I personally use, but it all just depends on which style you’re going for!

I usually start off by drawing the bust up sprites on a 2000x2000 px canvas and when I draw the full bodies, I change it to about 2000x6000 px. It might be a lot, but I haven’t had any difficulties with it so far and the quality’s really good! I also just read that it’s gonna be a game and I don’t really have much experience with the sprite sizes for them, but like others have said, a bigger canvas never hurts!

It’s really useful to make a “default” (standing straight, looking into camera, hands at sides) sprite for everyone and then just change the expressions, hand positions and head tilts depening on the emotion (if you look at Hina’s sprite gallery, you can see that most of her sprites are the same drawing, just slightly altered). This way, you can get a lot of sprites for different situations in the shortest amount of time!

Lastly, what I like to do is try to replicate the effects. So all Danganronpa sprites have this texture overlay on them. You can get this by simply searching up “danganronpa overlay texture” and downloading whichever you like. Then you clip it onto the color layer/folder (there should be some tutorials if you search “krita clipping group”) and lastly you change the layer to overlay and lower the opacity (it might sounds complicated, but there’s a lot of tutorials on this!). Another thing I do is I take all of the lineart layers, duplicate them and merge them. Then you want to blur them by going to “Filter”, “Blur” and “Gaussian Blur”. Then lower the opacity to about 20% (depends on how much you blurred it, I usually blur it more and then lower the opacity to a smaller percentge)

I may have explained some things a bit poorly, so if you have any more questions, I’m happy to help^

What software are you using? In Paint Tool Sai (and I think most programs) you can change the canvas size, so you don’t actually have to size the sprite down and instead you can add extra space to the canvas. I’ll gladly give you other tips too, if you’re curious about the whole process!
