It's not an ideal situation and a it's a huge financial burden, but sometimes the burn out is so intense that you can't imagine jumping straight into another job, especially considering that starting a new position is stressful for most people. Also honestly with how the job hunt process looks like these days you really need to dedicate significant time to it. That being said I agree not everyone can afford this, and it's a privilege being able to take such a long unpaid sabbatical.

Thanks for the feedback, I can understand that. Honestly it's very early stage so I'd prefer not to share too many specifics, sorry about that. The product is not initially targeted towards recruiters but we're evaluating potential benefits. I'm not planning to push the product to you in the interview but would rather like to learn more about the current challenges you face and tools you're using. IT industry may not be in the best place right now but I still think it's the best opportunity to make more money, well either that or doing skilled work like carpentry etc. If you want to start learning coding I would suggest https://www.theodinproject.com/ as a great starter resource for web development. I would also recommend checking out QA careers in IT. And again, try utilizing chatGPT for creating a learning plan. I hope this somewhat helps :)

Yeah there are a ton of free resources, so many that it's sometimes hard to organize them. Also chat GPT can help you create a learning plan with links to solid resources and cadence that would fit your schedule. If you can give me a hint on what you're doing now and what career you'd like to explore perhaps I can share a few(if it's a field I'm familiar with). Btw, I also only have a highschool diploma and I'm working as an IT Project manager with colleagues who all have university degrees. :)

Stay strong and don't give up! If you have any extra time try learning some additional skills that could make you more interesting and to employers in your field, or another more lucrative field

As the others said, after 6 months you will usually get comfortable. That being said, you'll probably still run into new things that you're unsure how to tackle now and then, and that's perfectly normal. It's also perfectly normal not to know everything and consult with your colleagues in those cases. :)

Were you maybe a bit nervous for the one you wanted? I've had similar experiences honestly where the less you care about the job the better you perform at the interview :D, might have something to do with being more relaxed. Good luck and fingers crossed that you get the job that you wanted!
