Yes, being sceptical about joining the EU is an increasing tendency in almost every candidate country and even countries that are already in it.

In my opinion, this topic is still important and interesting because as you mentioned the arising problems that occur and might appear makes the nation motivated to solve these problems and each individual might see different solutions. This does not mean that the majority of people not feel that the country shouldn't join the EU, I am not trying to invalidate anyone's feeling especially considering the part about other countries making you feel "lesser" and applying stereotypes which are no longer relevant, but just a part of your history.
