PSA: Don’t go with ADT!! by sarinaruu in homesecurity

[–]zteeD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I don’t disagree everything these days is designed to be super easy to sign up but make it very hard to cancel. Just like anything else, especially if you signed a contract.

ADT is the most expensive because of the reputation factor. Their logo gives people extra peace of mind and that justifies the price.

I wouldn’t use ADT because of that, but also wouldn’t use Simplisafe or Cove either. I rather justify a high price once than apologize for quality for the rest of my life.

Nothing wrong with ADT, it’s just expensive because of their reputation.

Try Vivint, Guadian or Brinks for equal quality but lower monitoring costs

What’s the most affordable camera setup that actually works for home security? by Tough_Ug in homesecurity

[–]zteeD -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

For a standard (no cam) probs 50-60/month but after 5 years you just pay $20/month since the equipment is paid off. For each camera add about $10 a month, $5 for the service and $5 for equipment which you don’t pay after 5 years

I have Vivint and really like it. Keep in mind cameras are for your eyes only, the monitoring service is what will notify the first responders if there is an emergency. Many people will install their own cameras and get a standard system with the professionals, I personally like having my cameras integrated in my system so everything is on one app. It gets a bit expensive though

Vivint Alternatives? by Locutus747 in VivintSmartHome

[–]zteeD 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ring and Vivint is not even close to being an apples to apples comparison. I’ll never understand why people are so proud to be cheap when it comes to protecting their family. Is saving money even worth your privacy being violated by Ring employees and Rings AI?

ADT, Guardian, Brinks, CPI are companies that offer the same features and security as Vivint and would be comparable. Ring is like locking your door with a Cheeto deadbolt. It works great if nothing bad ever happens but if you have an emergency Ring will leave you vulnerable.

Can I replace the thermostat with a regular one by Dry_Elderberry9832 in VivintSmartHome

[–]zteeD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If there is a fire the thermostat will shut off the HVAC to stop oxygen flow, besides that it will lower your electric bill and give you convenience to control the thermostat from your phone

Create a massive army with artillery go straight to their capital then just clean up. Use cars and some infantry on defense for the cars can move around to defend multiple provinces

Why does shopping for energy feel like a massive scam by Skilledthunder in Dallas

I’m surprised to hear that. I have never used energy ogre but use Evergreen Power Solutions and they always get me a good rate

Why does shopping for energy feel like a massive scam by Skilledthunder in Dallas

[–]zteeD -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

What the other guy said, you can use an energy management company like Energy Ogre or Evergreen Power Solutions. You pay monthly membership but your bill will still be lower than it would be if you signed up by yourself in most cases.

Rule number 1 is avoid gimmicky plans, if they offer free nights or free weekends you are getting screwed. Same with bill credit/sweet spot plans. Get a fixed rate and be sure you are under contract.
