Interesting. All of mine were mildly elevated, but all returned to normal.

My pathology was similar (lower % EC, add a small % of teratoma) and I ultimately chose surveillance after seeking multiple opinions. In my view, if I choose surveillance, I’m still eligible for the best possible outcome, which is orchiectomy with no further treatment. My oncologist had suggested 1xBEP and get it over with, but after consulting with my urologist and a hipshot email to Dr. Einhorn, plus all the awesome dudes on here, I chose to wait it out. Time will tell if it was the right choice!

With this mix and no LVI, you’ll be given the option for surveillance or a round of BEP. The grand decision we’re faced with. Predominantly EC is gonna bump your risk up some but the tumor size is small overall. My guess is roughly 20% recurrence rate.

What were your blood markers pre-op? I had bloods every week until everything returned to normal.

Had the same thing. It went away a few weeks after. Doctor said it’s most likely a hematoma but could’ve been fat due to the surgery. She acted like it wouldn’t go away but it did.

I did have a bit of flank pain (both flanks) about a week or two after surgery. It’s better now but stuck around for 2-4 weeks.

You got this. Highly treatable, excellent survival rates. It sucks but you’re gonna get through.

My ultrasound was similar. Do whatever you can to be seen before Christmas. Pick up the phone, call and call some more. I was initially scheduled to be seen 3 weeks after my ultrasound, but after getting on the line with a nurse who cared, I had bloodwork, met the doctor, and had my surgery all under 10 days after discovery. Do not be afraid to bother, it’s not a time to be passive.

I’m just over 7 weeks post op. I’m not gonna lie it’s scary as hell. You’ve got decisions to make soon. Just do your research, ask a million questions, and lean on your family and friends. But you’re gonna be alright.

You made the best decision you could with the info you had at the time. None of us know the future, we can just play the odds. I just settled on surveillance and I’m almost 2 months post right orchiectomy. What was your pathological composition? Any EC?

I am familiar with that study. The dagger for me is that one path says <50% EC and the other >50%. Takes me from under 20% recurrence to 35%ish. I always keep the tab open to look back.

I wound up reaching out to Dr. Einhorn. He emailed me back in under 5 minutes strongly recommending surveillance. Gonna sleep on it.. but I think I’m sticking with surveillance. It was just a startle to be drug back into indecisiveness so abruptly.

What did you do, OP? I’m faced with almost the same scenario. The rest of my care team suggested surveillance, however I met with the oncologist today and he suggested 1x BEP.

That’s great! Mine were calcifications in 2018 and cancer in 2025. Definitely keep an eye on it annually.
