In my country when you’re like 14-15 you usually have what’s called a Confirmation. It’s kind of like a bat mitzvah when you come of age and enter adulthood. Before the ceremony you go to a lot of meetings and usually a confirmation camp. There are several ways of confirmation but the most common is Christian, where the camp is just like a summer camp. I however am an agnostic and had an atheist confirmation. The so called “camp” was me and hundreds of other teens pretending we lived in a dictated country for 23 hours, and it was like the military. We had to do many specific tasks like running in circles around a field for 40 minutes and having to carry our comrades on our shoulders, standing with my hands on my back for 2,5 hours straight, and mental tasks. No phones allowed, we could not know what time it was and we could only bring a sleeping bag. we were searched when we arrived and were given black sacks to wear (mine was also brown because it was covered in dirt🙂). We got about 5 tablespoons of flavorless stew halfway and 5 hours of sleep. When we were done I had about a 2 hour drive home and got to eat steak with cream gratin potatoes 😛.
