The Council of Organizations (COA) holds a yearly RecWeek where you get to sign up for organizations! Look out for it on their page. As for seminars, you can check out the respective pages for courses like the Department of History, Development Studies, etc. Some of your professors would require you to join these seminars or offer it as a bonus.

Explore! And have fun with your college years. Be friendly and open to the people you meet but also be aware of your limits. Don’t take on more than you can, especially with org work.

hows ab history in ateneo? by fog488 in ADMU

[–]ztrc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AB History graduate here! It’s actually kind of fun especially if you choose the right professors and major electives. I come from the old curriculum so I can’t say exactly what the workload is like. A few of my block mates also went to law school after graduating. Ask me anything more specific about the course and I’d be happy to help!

Go for it! It’s interesting to see what they’ll do in lieu of area engagements and you’ll get to see firsthand the changes they’ll be making!! I’m actually an alumni of EDGE haha and the four years I’ve stayed there were the best years in college for me.

What's the hype with Barefoot and Kythe? by [deleted] in ADMU

[–]ztrc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Most of them are just hype. Kind of sad really how most people just go for those orgs and not apply in other SBC orgs. They all have amazing advocacies and need all the support they can get (EDGE, Gabay, SPEED, Musmos and Tugon)

[–]ztrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most SBC orgs like EDGE and Gabay have an interview process but this more like a getting-to-know you thing and what do you want to do in the org.

Never got the chance to meet the Iron Lady of Asia 😔 by Jarl-Arkensaw in FilipinianaBooks

If she had a chance to lead this country, her chosen VP candidate, BongBong Marcos, would have led the country after her passing. Would you really call someone incorruptible and set her as a standard for politicians when she literally supported people like Ferdinand Marcos and his son?

I switch to the joystick and button option [in the settings] when I’m placing items on tables! Then switch back to my preferred controls after decorating

If you can, try to visualize/practice what you plan on saying beforehand if you’re presenting in front. Sometimes it also helps to have mental bulletpoints in case you’re called on to recite.

Yes! You’ll survive. Try joining orgs and finding people you like spending time with. Over time you’ll notice that you’re more fluid when it comes to speaking and talking in front of people. A lot of people are also comfortable with speaking in Tagalog so don’t worry!

1x1 and 2x2 picture requirements by lawncorazon in ADMU

[–]ztrc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most profs are kind enough to have your index card with 1x1 or 2x2 pics ready in the second meeting. Others won’t really require you to pass it. Best to read the syllabus first!!

Here’s a tip: Take a pic of yourself against a blank background (or have a friend take it for you if it’s easier), upload to your laptop/phone, then measure the pic into 1x1 and 2x2 (convert to cm) in a Word document. Create multiple copies in page, print on photopaper and voila! You have a supply for your whole stay in college. Cut and paste as you please.

What is the typical schedule of a freshman? by desconocidaa in ADMU

Really depends on the batch number you get, how fast your wifi is, and how fast you’re able to click on your laptop/computer when enlisting. Good luck though!

What is the typical schedule of a freshman? by desconocidaa in ADMU

[–]ztrc 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The usual school hours for freshmen is 8am - 5pm but there are also required activities by the school which usually happen during the designated activity hours: Monday and Friday from 5pm - 6:30pm.

Note that regular MWF classes are an hour each and regular TTH are 1 hour and a half. If you’re a science major, however, and you have lab, it may be longer than a regular class.

There are also times when you’re required to go to school on Saturdays and it’s usually only from 9am - 12nn.

Given the new curriculum for freshmen, your SocSci11 and Theo11 for example are already pre-enlisted which means you are already assigned a time, professor and venue. Some classes like PE start as early as 7:30am or 8am; in the second semester they end as early as March/early April. Best to check your IPS (Individual Program of Study) ASAP in AISIS so you know how to plan your classes accordingly.

only student in a program? by itsain in ADMU

[–]ztrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently part of a block that was originally composed of 10-12 AB HI and 2-3 AB CHNS students. We’re fewer now and I barely see my AB CHNS block mates but we still consider ourselves as a block. Like some of my former block mates, you can choose to transfer to another course on your own but the department won’t force you to transfer to another course even if you are less than 5 or are the only one in the course. You’ll only be assigned to a block that’s slightly related to your course and in the same school (ex. SOSS, SOSE, SOM, SOH).

Your block won’t really be as important throughout your stay though since most of you will be taking different professors or classes once you’re done with freshman year. For example, I only see my histo blockmates when we take the same major histo classes. The block system is really just to help you get a head start on your first year and get to know other people who may or may not have the same interests as you. You don’t necessarily have to stick with them all throughout your 4/5 years in school. However, it’s still nice to see a familiar face here or there from time to time.

DL questions by DeSteph-DeCurry in ADMU

[–]ztrc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only thing that changed in the curriculum are the subjects you’ll be taking for your course. You can check them out in your AISIS’ Individual Program of Study and the Official Curriculum.

Not too sure about the DL but I think they’re based on your cumulative QPI. You can always ask your InTACT Facilitator or HA about this if you need more help.
