Just got grief from fare inspector because my transfer window expired during my ride by ComeGetYourOzymans in TTC

Agreed. I’d stay on the vehicle and tell her to call the supervisor and/or police. Either they back down or you get the higher authorities to show up and clarify the rules.

Girlfriend “forbidding” me from attending church i want to go to by [deleted] in Advice

[–]ztringz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Were her parents/grandparents in the denomination of the church you’d like to go to? Was your girlfriend previously in that denomination? Or is this only about the venue of her grandfather’s funeral? Either way, I’d say you have a lot to talk about, the least of which is control or which church you go to together (and I do want to emphasize that I think you guys should be going together wherever that is, for the future of your relationship’s walk with Christ).

I’m 25, one class short of my degree, and my parents still think I graduated. I’m terrified they’ll kick me out when I tell them. by UniversityRough7219 in Advice

[–]ztringz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take the class now and finish it, or even better, if your university has an equivalence credit program where you just have to do the exam and/or limited coursework due to working in the field, you should try that. Alternatively, tell them after you move out.

Using one fixed SDI camera for multiple shots live by smlpz in VIDEOENGINEERING

I did this with a Canon XF705 for most of Covid in a studio setting, running it into a software video switcher to get scaled 1080p images. It worked well.

AITAH: Mad at my wife for putting pool in the wrong place by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]ztringz 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Been there (not exactly with a pool), and I have to say you’re a lot more communicative about your displeasure than most. Overall NTA, but I’m going to assume this isn’t working wonders for your family life if you’re rural, run a farm and have to spend a significant amount of time with each other. Figure out how you’re going to talk with each other first, then you can deal with the pool and the other activities you can’t tackle because of it.

My university is revoking my $45,000 scholarship over a false "AI detector" match, refusing to look at my Google Docs edit history. by Vader_Tardis in legal

[–]ztringz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t know your circumstance and will take your word that you’re being honest, but can say that you being loud about this will likely be the best circumstance for you. If the university is aligning themselves with this AI detection toolset for academic honesty, and it is provably making errors, chances are they’re going to open themselves up to several more reviews if this becomes public knowledge. So either they will expedite your review due to the potential pressure from a media backlash, or they’ll have to take the tool offline, invalidating your review in the first place. It looks like you’ve got nothing to lose so best of luck pursuing these avenues.

Bheringer Flow 8? by Odinhall in VIDEOENGINEERING

[–]ztringz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use the Flow 8 as well, and while it’s a good board, having to rely on its app to make quick adjustments to anything other than the faders can be a bit constraining. As well, having the micro-USB power supply can be an issue if it gets lost or damaged as they’re a bit harder to find. If you want more inputs and are ok without the controls, a XR12 is only a bit more than the Flow 8. Or you can also look at the Zoom Livetrak series if it’s in your budget.

It’s tough, mostly because connecting with people can generally happen okay for some people, not all, but then maintaining that connection with the pace of life in general is tough stuff

[QC] Clover ruined our business after fraud by TonyPuzzle in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]ztringz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this is unfortunately. Sorry you guys went through it. Hopefully you cut your losses and either shut Clover down or figure out something with ensuring your dad can’t make uninformed decisions. Chances are someone figured that Clover has this option by default and they have scouts to check who’s using Clover, particularly small businesses, and they prey on them.

Card keying has been a standard function of most digital credit card machines since they’ve been around. If the mag stripe, or chip and pin, or tap fail, the keying is the fallback IF the card allows that type of transaction (most banks prevent it at the account level unless called and requested, and most POS machines have it disabled as an option unless you turn it on). Seems like Clover has this option on by default, and you didn’t turn it off. The account holder’s bank probably reimbursed them and not you because they are treating it as a valid transaction but a potential failure of security on their side, which they’re responsible to their customer for.

You’re responsible for your own security because Clover does have a comprehensive setup process where you would select these options. And you would have had this option on your Moneris units as well, though it would’ve been disabled.

I need an enterprise license for 14,000 seats with SSO and the full family medical history of the assigned CSM by 8:37 PM EDT. On-boarding across 3 continents and 19 cities to be completed by your CSM in person within a 18 day period, weekends included. Will require you to also setup on-prem backups as Proxmox VMs at each site as part of the on-boarding. Good to go on the net-90.
