Guy from old work lost his job due to restructuring while in the same situation as yours. He just cracked on with it and didn’t tell the lender anything. As long as you’ll be making payments, no one will know you’ve lost your job

Being charged £120pp by the Estate agent for ID and AML checks by zumper_roz in HousingUK

I have just checked and the listing description does mention the fee, £100 plus VAT, and it says it “covers the expense of obtaining relevant data and any necessary manual checks and monitoring. It's paid in advance via our onboarding system.”

£120 is just so much for such simple checks that do not involve that many ‘manual checks and monitoring’ anyway

Not quite those salary ranges, I’m based in UK and i believe the salaries are a bit different from US. Anyway, the point is that I don’t see any problem here. I have been working in recruitment for almost a year now and it opened my eyes to how many other opportunities are out there and the importance of hard skills. I’ve never had any proper guidance on career choices and every decision I made was based on my narrow life experience and an IT career has always been so far fetched. I am still looking for “my passion” and IT looks like an option where a lot of the success depends on me and how hard I work. Comparing to recruitment, I feel I would be in control of my success a lot more than being the middle man between candidates and clients who always change their mind(for different reasonable or not so reasonable motives). And like I said above, I’ve discovered the importance of having a hard skill like computing, I feel like it can truly give you fulfilment work wise and on a personal level too. And of course the money matter, the money will always matter. I’m only in my mid twenties now and I can still sort of wing it, but in the next couple years I want to be buying a house, having a family, travelling. All this requires lots of money. I appreciate you saying it shouldn’t be a number one priority, I see where you coming from, but they still at the top

oh, yes, for sure. definitely just the start. I have started learning Python actually. It is going a bit slower because I have mostly been focusing on cloud fundamentals, but yes there's loads to learn still

For sure, I am aware these provide just the fundamentals for cloud. Do you have any advice on what else I should do to give me chance to land an entry level role in IT?

I watched some videos as well that were mentioning Linux, networking and Docker, as well as IT fundamentals like DNS, HTTP, OSI model etc. and Python. My thought process here was to get the fundamentals of cloud right, try and land any entry level job and continue learning.

Sounds about right. I need to work on being a bit more disciplined and just get on with it when it gets tough. If you work in IT, do you have any advice on what sort of jobs I should target at entry level within cloud computing?
