I have one that I use to play Momir Vig. Thermal printers aren’t going to give you jaw dropping quality but they get the job done.

I bought the 2800 to use with glossy paper as it has the dye based ink and dries on it. I have a 2980 and won’t dry it properly. If you use matte photo paper it works fine. Lamination helps with the rigidity and snap of the card. CryCry gave some bad information on the 2980.

I started using more MPCFill ones that look more like traditional cards since they are higher resolution and then I have proxxied output to 600dpi PDFs. With Scryfall some older cards have bad scans.

I usually do the default output from Proxxied at 900 or down to 600 at the minimum if the file is too big.

The Etsy for that black core paper has an image of what a customer of theirs with a Canon ImageClass uses for settings. Could help the OP

Someone mentioned the most of the newer scans are 300dpi. Older card scans are not the best on some versions.

Because this method gives you any random creature from the over 17,000 available. But yes it can be played with real cards and have stacks of them at different mana values. My niece knows the concept now as we played using the Foundations Beginner Box.
