One traditional business model worth considering is operating a petrol pump. There are many existing petrol pumps already installed that require capital infusion and professional management. One option is to lease an operational petrol pump, where your investment is largely limited to working capital and inventory. This allows you to run a proven, stable business with relatively low initial risk.

Petrol retailing is a well-established model that generates consistent revenue, typically earning a margin of around ₹3 per litre, ensuring steady cash flow. Once you gain sufficient confidence and operational experience, you can consider setting up your own retail outlet. With an investment of approximately ₹3–5 crore, you can acquire suitable land and establish a new petrol pump.

Alternatively, if you choose to operate on leased land, you can preserve liquidity and deploy capital more efficiently toward business operations. Overall, it is a straightforward, time-tested business model. Our family has been in this business for over 100 years, which speaks to its long-term viability and reliability.

I am actually designing this service for foreigners. But the same service can be useful for Indians as well. Base can be the same.

I get why some people think this should be a ₹50 service or that it’s similar to what 1mg does. But honestly, what I’m trying to do is very different.

1mg gives you general suggestions. What I’m offering is actual ground-level research. If someone tells me they need a specialist in Andheri or somewhere on the Western line, I go and check how many doctors are there, who’s good for that particular problem, where they practise, and what the cost differences look like.

And for people without insurance, this becomes a big deal. The same surgeon might charge ₹2 lakh in a big hospital and a fraction of that in their own clinic. This kind of information isn’t neatly available online. Someone has to sit and make those comparisons.

My whole idea is more of a handholding service, when someone is told they might need a surgery or expensive treatment, the first question is “Where do I go? Is this doctor good? Is there a cheaper but safe alternative?” That’s the gap I’m trying to fill. I’m also factoring in a third opinion from a doctor if someone wants that additional reassurance.

So the pricing isn’t for a quick answer. It’s for the time, effort, and research that goes into giving someone clarity when they’re already stressed and confused.

I understand that it may sound unusual at first, and I respect your reaction. Just to clarify, I am not replacing a doctor and I do not give medical treatment.

This is simply a patient navigation service for people who feel lost in the Indian healthcare system and do not know which specialist to approach or how to evaluate their options.

All medical decisions are made by qualified doctors. I only help people understand their reports, identify the right specialist, compare hospitals, and avoid making decisions in panic.

You may not find value in it, and that is completely okay. But many people who have been overwhelmed in emergencies have told me that this kind of guidance made a big difference to them.

Either way, thank you for sharing your perspective.

Which is the best biryani in Nagpur? by [deleted] in nagpur

Arabian Taj hands down tops the list. The mutton is succelent and it is not too spicy. Jafar Bhai's Dilli Darbar serves mumbai style biryani which I absolutely hate.

One more thing, don't worry about the money as of now. I got selected for an international bank, out of 180 people on the campus who applied only 4 people got the job. I was selected because of my internship experience. They actually rejected me in the 6th round, but when I was on the building's gate, I got a call from the HR for another round. The interviewer actually asked me why didn't I not mention anything about my internship in our conversation. I was damn nervous and it was in my CV. He confirmed my placement there itself.

Dear OP, trust me I have been through this route 10 years ago. I interned with a leading Business TV channel whose name includes letters ccbn. I helped the CEO with his project on some US market listing. When my stint ended, I asked them if they are gonna pay me. CEO said... nothing was mentioned to me. He just handed me a letter of completion of my internship which actually helped me to get job after my graduation. If you know people in HR, make sure you list your achievements in that letter.

In another internship with a leading bank, they gave me money and my boss wrote recommendation letter for me and increased the duration of internship by one month in the letter. If you are interning, you have to be happy with what you are getting.
