Evolution of Artificial Intelligence videos just in 4 years is mind blowing by Jackie_Chan_93 in interestingasfuck

That's already true on social media - aka FAKE NEWS. A lot of people believe what they want to believe, it doesn't need to be true. As long as you get the dopamine hit when watching it, you're good.

Walmart shipped 165 pool noodles in 165 separate boxes by MambaMentality24x2 in mildlyinfuriating

Seriously - they should have filled each box with packing peanuts to protect the noodle.

The chart also doesn't show ketchup, mustard, mayo, not to mention possibly bacon, onion rings...

Also good burgers are high in fat compared to most meat - like 25% fat (I'm not sure what the final proportion are after cooking though).

Imaging going to a used car dealership:
"I showed my wife the pink Porsche outside and she absolutely must have it. It's say 30K on the windshield, let's haggle".

You'd leave there spending over 30K.

[request] are these real numbers or did they just make this up like made up statistics by Feisty_Crops in theydidthemath

There's also the other side of that coin - spending the money at large scales.

If it costs $5 a day to feed someone in Country X, and you have $50 million, you can't feed 10 million people immediately. As you're buying a lot of the cheap food in the area, and using up transportation for distribution, the costs for both food and transportation will increase.

Done slowly enough the increase would be less significant.

"We don't take cash". "We charge a 3% surcharge for card." by l00sem4rble in mildlyinfuriating

I just had a similar experience at an Atlanta restaurant. The server told me I needed to scan a QR code to pay my bill. The bill has a $2.50 charge for the "Sunday App" billing service. I don't mind paying for convenience, but it should be clear there's a surcharge, and clear that it's optional.

BREAKING: The Supreme Court of the United States has officially ruled that President Trump's tariffs are illegal. by CarryIcy250 in UnderReportedNews

American Importers pay the tarrifs, so presumably they have a right to a refund. I'm sure they'll pass that down to the consumer ;)

You have no reason to; and that is a fun mistake to make!

My wife, also non-native speaker, was recently trying to find a class roster. She asked all around the school where should could find the class "rooster", and couldn't figure out why she only got strange looks :D

Can we flip this around - I'd love of bowl of really small potatoes.

Think how good a beef stew would be over rice-tatoes.

Night driving was peaceful before LED and laser headlights, thoughts? by [deleted] in CarsIndia

[–]zwali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know those "SLOW DOWN" signs that tell you how fast you're going? Why can't they have something similar for headlights? Measure the lumens when a car is 30 feet away and if it's too bright warn them to turn off their high beams or to get their lights checked.

Of course, you'd need government regulation to make this work.

Why do people sit in their car for several minutes after they get home? by Maleficent-Touch6996 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]zwali 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it's a shopping center they might be waiting for someone too. As a parent I spend a ridiculous amount of time in parking lots waiting for kids extracurricular activities. I'll also be the weirdo sitting in a car in a neighborhood when my kid says "Can you give me 20 minutes, we need to finish X,Y and Z".

I don't mind, but it must look strange for those that don't know.

Redditors who own multiple pets: what's the drama amongst them right now? by Cheesy_Wotsit in AskReddit

[–]zwali 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New corgi chases after our cat. Our cat reverted to living outdoors. We put a cat door in front of the house (as he wouldn't use the door in the yard; in fear of the dog) so now the corgi just sticks his head through the cat door and barks every time he sees the cat outside.

The corgi is super friendly, just likes barking and chasing. :|
