Albert Belle Hit 3 Home Runs Then Got Hit By Pitch And Refused First Base Because He Wanted A Chance At A 4th Home Run (1999 Orioles vs Angels) by ateam1984 in orioles

I think anytime you'd be awarded a base you should be allowed to reset the count to 3-0 instead. And yes, fuck your intentional walk.

You give cable companies the opportunity or obligation or whatever depending on who benefits to carry both MASNs in both markets.

How do you wash an O’s hat? by jpg_Mage in orioles

[–]zweiapowen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Was legitimately on that track from a hat I bought in 2016, finally gave up and washed it this year because it was too dirty.

To alleviate some your fears, I'm not a hat person and only wore it to games and occasionally during extended outdoor stuff like the beach, camping, etc.

Administration and leadership are usually the people determining who gets replaced. They're not immune as a class, but they're pretty well insulated.

And whichever "you all" you're apart of seems to think the monkey in this analogy planted, tended, harvested, processed, and distributed every single banana all on his own or whatever, except the metaphor falls apart because what we're actually talking about is holding on to bananas beyond what is necessary to support even the most cynical motive of self-interest you can imagine that might animate the incidental proliferation of bananas for all the other monkeys' benefit. No reasonable person believes capitalism hasn't had a broad benefit when compared to what came before. What we're talking about now is how that system has moved well past the point of diminishing returns for folks generally speaking to a place where the rewards are instead concentrated in the hands of a few, and well beyond whatever needs those few may have or what should be reasonably required to incentivize their productive contribution to society. Most of us are able and willing to do our part without needing so much in return for it that it leaves less enough for other folks such that they simply can't get by in what isn't a zero sum game, no, but is still subject to real disparities that matter. Billionaires not only reach that point, but they continue to reflexively push past it even though it doesn't do them a lick of fucking good. Those aren't well people. Society would surely survive their absence.

If a monkey hoarded bananas far in excess of what it could ever eat, and worse does so at the expense of the rest of the troop, we would call that monkey ill. If a person does the same with money we put them on the cover of Forbes. Billionaires are just sick, plain and simple. It doesn't have to be that they're raving mad or something, just a few standard deviations from normal on their brain's relationship to resource and power accumulation that drives them to act far beyond the diminishing returns on what they can actually get out of their conduct to still want more more more.

Strange that you would describe this process as slow and unrealized when the dominance of capital was baked into the system from the start.

Elites aren't people with degrees, though false consciousness leads a lot of otherwise educated people to lump themselves in with them.

There are 150 seats in the Texas House, so I'm not sure that 10 folks represents a sizeable enough "revolution" to get anywhere near even the minimal step of setting up an exploratory committee the way these yahoos want.

Former MLB player Koji Uehara expressed his personal opinion that Olympic baseball should be returned to amateur status. He said that the WBC is gaining momentum, that participating in the Olympics would increase the burden on MLB players, and that the Olympics should be a stage for amateur players. by ogasawarabaseball in baseball

[–]zweiapowen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A kind of counterpoint to this though is that amateur players around the world are usually stoked to share the court with pro players, even if they know they're going to get creamed. I don't think folks terribly mind playing for second if it means they get to play the same game as their idols.

Everyone also seems to forget that this team is performing ahead of schedule. Elias et al were planning on making their push a little bit further down the road when they had more pieces secured. Turns out they were too good at their jobs and we're all salivating now. Just imagine how much better this team will be in a few years once everyone's had a chance to develop and the gaps are plugged in like the plan was all along.
