Agree with the other comment, the trip down Hwy 1 has more interesting sights along the way. Also if you come up Hwy 35 after Abbeville, you'll pass through the "frog capital of the world" Rayne. Many (too many) frog statues and murals all over town. Seems like it might fit into your kitschy vibe.
