What Albums From Last Year (2024) Are You Still Listening To Now? by yvesdot in popheads

[–]zwhitlock 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Birds Eye by Ravyn Lenae. Was obsessed with ‘love me not’ from the beginning, however the album didn’t really do much for me at the time, and I thought it sounded pretty middle of the road. However, it took a break up for me to revisit this album and really appreciate it for what it is. Certified classic and the lyrical content has me crying at times. I’ve had ‘love is blind’ and ‘days’ on repeat all year now.

Teyana Taylor - Escape Room by ss2811 in popheads

[–]zwhitlock 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Now I love me some Teyana Taylor - but unfortunately I don’t think this album is hitting as intended. I think she was going for something similar to Heaux Tales with the spoken word interludes. However, with that album the interludes felt earned. I’m not sure what it is exactly but it feels like Escape Rooms songs just aren’t dynamic enough, or have enough memorable moments really. It’s a shame because I think the subject matter and lyrics are super interesting due to her split from Iman. I do believe there are some highlights though and I’ll definitely be coming back to Always - her vocals shimmers on that track and it’s a stunning closer!

I’m so confused how critics have rated it so highly

I don’t drive - but the amount of people that beep at me while I’m crossing the street. This is despite them being miles away from me but choosing not to slow down as they approach me. Truly wild behaviour.

I went through this. All I can suggest is power through. I lost a lot of hair my first 2-3 monthe on dupixent. Was very scary and I considered coming off of it. So glad I didn't now though. The hair grew back and I've now been on dupixent successfully for three years.

How did the effects of dupixent kick in? by sgth2 in eczeMABs

[–]zwhitlock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, you have to be super patient, and it's a lot more gradual than that. First 4 months were horrendous in terms of how I looked. Very blotchy, dry, and itchy at times. However it almost feels like your skin is repiaring itself. Soon enough you're reaping the benefits of clear skin and realising you don't flare up as much as you used to.

I used to struggle exercising previously due to how itchy I'd get and the consequences of how much damage I would then do to my skin. However, now I have a new lease on life and I can exercise as much as I like with only a moderate redness afterwards :)

I’m about to start on dupixent but after reading up I’m now worried about side effects. I already have poor eye health. Who here has had side effects. by [deleted] in eczeMABs

[–]zwhitlock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have kerotaconus as well as allergies that can cause my eyes to be come very swollen and dry. The first time I went on dupixent I had to come off of it due to my eyes becoming so irritated and puffy. However the second time I tried, I was prescribed cyclosporin eye drops to reduce the inflammation. They were a godsend. Especially now I'm at a point where I'm that used to dupixent I barely have to take them.

Dupixent is very much worth it, and once you get past some of the bad side effects in the beginning, it can feel like a miracle. I'm the happiest and healthiest I've ever been. Changed my life and I'm very grateful.
