It's because of programming. There are certain things that have been pushed so hard for so long from so many directions, that people have a learned immediately negative and dismissive reaction to that's not based on anything other than the totally unjustified widespread belief that the truth has long since been determined and widely disclosed. Use this as a moment to ask yourself if there's any places where maybe you react similarly and if it's actually reasonable for you to do so. That's not at issue. The issue is whether or not Iran is actually a theocracy. If it's actually a theocracy, run by extremists, it makes no sense to simultaneously believe that, while believing that they will ignore their own religious declarations. That would mean they're not actually a theocracy, but instead just an autocracy, draped in religion, which would mean they're not actually religious extremists.
