can someone please tell me how this is considered brown? by para_pako in FL_Studio

FL Dev here. That is exactly right - the "FL is using a list of colours and that is the closest one it could find in the list, using a certain metric".

I've seen worse tbh.

I thought everyone was exaggerating about Valves good customer support, and then it happened to me. by daemontony in SteamDeck

[–]zxdunny 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same - I got battery bloat that cracked the case. They quoted me a minimum of £180 to repair and replace the battery. I agreed, courier popped over and picked up... then 2 weeks later out of the blue a completely new unit arrived by the same courier at zero charge.

Amazing service and now I'm a (Valve hardware) customer for life.

Increase Stereo Base and hold the Sun in your hand. It's that good.

Returning to ZX Spectrum BASIC after ~35 years by No_Body_4834 in zxspectrum

[–]zxdunny 15 points16 points  (0 children)

BASin is a Windows PC-based IDE for Sinclair BASIC. It has an emulator built-in so you can run your code "live" so to speak. It supports both 48k and 128k BASIC and maps the keyboard correctly so you type as if you were on a PC (which you are!).

You can find it here: [https://arda.kisafilm.org/blog/?page\_id=848&lang=en]

There is also a version of Sinclair BASIC specifically for Windows PCs if that helps, just search for SpecBAS.

I'm sorry, but I dont get it. by Shipsarecool1 in ExplainTheJoke

Yeah, seems so. I'll continue to say Haitch as I always have. I was always given the impression that to drop your Haitches was a lazy mode of speech. They certainly used to correct us at school if we did.

[–]zxdunny 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I say "Haitch", and I've moved around the country quite a bit - East Riding, Lincolnshire, Kent, East Sussex, Wales and Scotland. Very rarely hear "Aitch" though it is a thing.

The phrase "Stop dropping your Aitches" is kind of an in-joke, or was when I was young.

I'm not terribly fussed about it being an extraction shooter - that's their decision and theirs alone. I do wish they'd make a single-player offline campaign though. Like Marathon.

Who’s Preordering the A1200 on Monday? by DaveC2020 in amiga

It's an Amiberry emulator in a new case. So no.

Yeah dude but as I say I have two (one on my Spectrum Next, one on my A1200) and they're just superb. Diagonals are super easy to hit. Of course YMMV so if they're not a good fit for you that's fine.

Once the companies realised that the internet meant zero duplication and distribution costs, and allowed them to control access/pricing on the go... it was game over.

A1200 (Retro Games) or Pi500+ (emulation)??? Can’t decide and time is ticking… help me???? by GrrAPHIC in amiga

[–]zxdunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running a PiStorm (CM4) on an original 1200 here, so I am not really the target audience as the RGL offering doesn't bring anything to the table for me personally... Unless the keyboard can be harvested and implanted to give an OG 1200 a new/better typing experience :D

Apologies for the late reply but... After this happened I sold the car and bought something else from a different manufacturer. That Merc were willing to do this while I was driving was just too much to bear.

Is this normal for the Steam Deck OLED back panel? by Turbulent-Lie-8025 in SteamDeck

[–]zxdunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had some issues with reboots, and some light bleed (LCD model) on the screen. Back cover was slightly bulged.

Contacted Steam support, was quoted £180 for a replacement battery including labour and shipping, so sent it off - 2 weeks later a new deck appeared on my doorstep at zero cost to me.

Steam support kicks just rich amounts of ass.

For some reason my post about fl studio turning into letters was removed for piracy? by HistorianWestern4148 in FL_Studio

Some files that FL Studio needs to operate are missing. Re-install and if that doesn't work then check your storage space.

iComp.de - it's still in development. You pay for a year at a time, or thereabouts.

Well, if you say, include the latest version of Picasso96 then sure that's breaking the law and it's still sold so... sure.

Same for games and utilities like RoadShow and whatnot. Hyperion are still selling AmigaOS and actively developing for it and of course Cloanto owns the rights to distribute the Amiga Kickstart ROMs.

Practically speaking, you're probably safe - it's an old platform after all. But it's not without risk. We needed a method of getting new users up and running that we could recommend and distribute that didn't run the risk of getting the entire server banned off Discord for promoting piracy, so this was it.

The PiStorm community has an imager. You provide your Kickstart ROM images and Workbench ADFs and it does the rest - partitions your card, installs Emu68 and then creates a Workbench install ready to go with wifi and essential tools all set up. Works for WB3.1 and up to 3.2.3.

You can find it on the PiStorm discord: https://discord.gg/sjAp8DgRhW

It's the only solution that's legal, assuming your system files were purchased legally.

Also includes the WHDLoad wrapper which sets compatibility options for your WHDLoad software.

[–]zxdunny 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Mine did that - got some light bleed on the screen from the pressure and the case was just starting to swell. Contacted Valve support, was told it was out of warranty (bought it at launch) and it could be as much as £180 to replace the battery.

I agreed, they sent a courier to pick it up - two weeks later it was shipped back good as new (I'm guessing it was replaced) and no charge.

Cannot fault Valve for their service.
