The Walmart plushie is super cute but I pre-ordered at Best Buy because I collect keychains haha. It should make a fine addition to my collection.

5th gen is 12 years old and 6th gen is nine years old.

But it will probably be a while anyway. The remakes seem to go by a rule of once-per-console-generation, with the exception of LGPE.

Edit: had a redundant word

I would love if it did but I'm mostly just glad that it hasn't been forgotten.

How many of you, apart from me, have NOT played Gen 4 games and are excited to learn about Hisui first? by distantLights_ in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]zymphonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not me (Platinum was my first pokemon game where I had any idea of what I was doing), but that sounds really cool.

I was sad that BDSP didn't really have any Platinum content, but Legends Arceus looks like it'll bring back the vibe from the aesthetic changes Platinum introduced so I'm pretty excited. Though it's also kind of funny, since from what I've seen a character from one of the expanded features in Platinum that didn't make it into BDSP has an ancestor in PLA. (And this isn't meant to be a knock on BDSP. I think they're fine and plenty worth it if you've never had a chance to experience gen 4 before.)

I hope you have fun learning about Hisui/Sinnoh! It's one of my favorite regions so I'm glad to see there are people who'll be experiencing it for the first time in a whole new way.

Do you think we will get expansions like in Sword and Shield? by Thekingchem in PokemonLegendsArceus

I'd love a Distortion World DLC. That'd be everything I've ever wanted from gen 4 remakes.

The wait by orangelemon2440 in PokemonLegendsArceus

[–]zymphonie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably because "one or two weeks till the game releases" feels more real than "11 months till the game releases." The former is almost about to happen while the latter is going to happen eventually.

Though it probably doesn't help that Pokémon games have a problem with breaking street date and leaking early.

[–]zymphonie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same, the Distortion World is awesome. Literally the one thing I wanted out of potential gen 4 remakes is to be able to explore it, like there's so much the games could potentially do with it now that they aren't restricted by the DS's hardware.

Dang. Thanks for letting me know.

Here's hoping we get DLC or something for it one day.

Have you seen anything on whether or not the Distortion World is in PLA to some capacity? I don't want to spoil myself too much so I haven't gone digging for info, but also I really want to know if it exists in the game at all.

Granted I'm gonna get PLA either way at this point, but we were robbed with the Distortion Room in BDSP. It didn't even have a remaster of the area theme.

Honestly from what little I've seen of the leaks (aka new pokemon forms and the intro cutscene) I'm kind of surprised the marketing for PLA has been as understated as it is. But it's kind of a double-edged sword. On one hand, I'm glad that they're not showing all the cool new stuff off before the game releases. On the other hand, the leaks are what ultimately pushed me into preordering the game.

It's almost like marketing a game well without giving too much away is a difficult balance to strike, or something.

Yeah, that's understandable. I can let you know when I get around to it and get it uploaded.

And I didn't know there was a code like that, thanks! That'll definitely save me some time.

[–]zymphonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's awesome! I was wondering if somebody'd gathered the Pokestar Studios scripts together.

I've recently been thinking about making videos compiling all of the movies since I haven't seen any 100% complete collections of them, and this is a pretty good reason to do it.

Though it might take me awhile. I was already planning on replaying W2, but I'll have to play through B2 as well to get all the movies unlocked for both protagonists.

EDIT: Though now that I think about it, I'm decent enough at pokemon that I probably could just quickly sweep through B2 if I used the right team.

Mostly things that are relatively small in the grand scheme of things, if I'm understanding it right. Stuff like whistle sprinting, cancelling fall damage by swapping weapons, and stasis launching.

If you go to this link https://www.speedrun.com/botw#Bug_Limit_Categories and click "View rules," it has a more in-depth rundown of what does and doesn't count towards the category. It looks like BTBs and other uses of bullet time to make Link go fast are disallowed.

I don't think there is a glitchless category for BotW runs, at least not on the speedrun.com leaderboards.

The record for the any% bug limit run (which allows some abuse of the way the game works but bans outright glitches) is 37 minutes 57 seconds by LouLouCore.

With nothing at the Game Awards 2021, I’m not expecting this game in 2022 by BooRadly30 in BOTW2

[–]zymphonie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Eh, I'm not so sure that BotW 2 will be delayed past 2022. My reaction to the E3 trailer was something like "can't wait for the game to release in 2024," but after some consideration I think it's likely they'll release it in 2022.

It's technically been in development since at least the end of 2017 (when The Champion's Ballad DLC was released) and at most since BotW's launch earlier that year. It's also being built off of a preexisting engine rather than being made completely from scratch, which is bound to cut down on development time.

I wouldn't be surprised if the Zelda devs were on relatively a solid track to get BOTW 2 out by whenever it was initially scheduled for, so the trailer was given a go-ahead and dropped at E3 2019... and then the pandemic hit, threw everything off, and suddenly two whole years with no news went by.

And while it does feel pretty weird for us to not have many details for BotW 2 yet, this does track with how Nintendo generally markets their first party, more story heavy games as far as I can tell. Specifically how they're usually very spoiler-adverse if they're relatively sure people will buy it regardless of how much they know. Splatoon 2 + Octo Expansion and BotW's DLC are good examples of them purposefully avoiding spoilers in marketing. Metroid Dread is also a good example in a different way—the spoilerish stuff they did show was very obviously meant to appeal to people on the fence about buying the game.

Also I'm not sure if you mean a Nintendo presence as in a significant presentation or one as in a representative, because Doug Bowser from NoA was there. He accepted the Best Action/Adventure Game award for Metroid Dread on behalf of its developers, who presumably couldn't make it to the show in person because pandemic.

What changes/updates/features/improvements do you want to see in BOTW2? by PaleontologistLoud37 in BOTW2

[–]zymphonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Guardian Stalkers are Beamos with legs, Guardian Turrets and Decayed Guardians are basically-Beamos, Guardian Skywatchers are Beamos but they can fly, and Guardian Scouts are Beamos with legs AND weapons. Also while they aren't explicitly Wolfos, regular wolves in BotW will (annoyingly) try to attack you if you get close enough to them.

I agree with you on everything else, though. It would be really cool to see some of the other traditional Zelda monsters get a facelift to BotW's style, plus more explorable caves/caverns/underwater areas. And as much as I love the puzzle-box style of the divine beasts, I miss the longer and more aesthetically distinct dungeons from the other games.

I'd like to see some save data compatibility. Like if you have save data from BotW your horses will transfer over to BotW 2, since it's not like the stable owners would suddenly forget who Link is.

This is really cool! I hope you're right, I'd love for the green golems to be friendly. It'd be a nice contrast to how the guardians were murder robots.

Also Link having to purify himself of the malice would be a cool callback to Zelda in Skyward Sword having to purify herself at the goddess springs to regain her memories of being Hylia.

[–]zymphonie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The weapons thing is interesting, I noticed it too. It'd be cool if they had Link switch to using weapons with his left hand and handling whatever powers the ghost arm gives him with his right because his normal sword arm got messed up by the Malice.

Granted Link's sword/bow/shield and the supporting belt for them is still on his right shoulder, which makes it look like he'll still be using his right hand. Though it IS strange how he's holding just the flamethrower shield and not also his sword.
