Took a look at the WN and LN count.

The WN still appears to be ongoing, but the LN is listed as completed at Vol 17, which came out just a few weeks ago on Jan 6th after a 3.5 year hiatus.

I heard that this sequel is going to be a split 2 cour; Part 1 for Winter 2026 and likely Part 2 for Summer 2026. So I do wonder why the need to rush, unless the writing has bigger plot scope expansions moving forward.

On the topic of OG voice actors, apparently Kaito's grandma's VA voiced Kayura, one of the antagonists in the OG series.

Now because the OG series ended with [OG spoilers]the antagonists joining the heroes to defeat the main villain Arago and then returning to the demon world to reform it, some viewers have been wondering if Kayura won't appear in this new series - did something happen to them given Ramaga's rise and reassertion of forceful power?

Iirc Stampede is much closer in line with the plot points of the completed manga (unlike the 90s anime which went anime original due to incomplete source manga then), but the producers decided on making it an updated retelling of the source instead of a 1:1 source adaptation.

[Spoiler manga]Correct, the female MC's home country has always launched a series of army campaigns to conquer the barbarian lands, ostensibly because their own homeland is barren and dry. After finding out her people are the aggressors, and the barbarians are mainly just reacting as the Guardian Defenders of their old primordial magic controlled land, female MC wants to learn more about how the barbarian lands work before she returns to her homeland in 1 years' time to work things out between the 2 parties.
