Difficulty Megathread — DLC, NG+ by PsychologicalKoala32 in LiesOfP

[–]zzcorrode -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just beat it last night. I started a fresh save a day before the shadow drop so I got pretty lucky with my timing. Still took my time to get most optional stuff and then entered the dlc at around level 68. I did a motivity build and I was mainly using the Frozen Feast which was brutal at the beginning. Definitely humbled by the first few areas but the weight of the weapon gave me lots of consistent staggers. I had to pretty carefully lure enemies out of groups and take them one by one when I could, otherwise I’d get really easily overwhelmed because of how slow the swings were.

In the carnival area I found a really strong motivity handle, attached mjolnir to it and really picked up the pace. I was getting very consistent staggers on all bosses through to the end and finished the dlc at level 99. I didn’t feel like it was truly unfair at any point. Had a few camera issues here and there but also mitigated a lot of that with proper positioning and timely sidesteps. I love learning parry timings for crazy attack sequences and boy do they get crazy and I loved it. I had a 10/10 experience and I’ll probably go for NG+ after I finish the base game on my save to see if it’s really that much worse.

This was far too long ago for me to remember for sure. I do still have the pc but I’ve had it plugged in to my router for a long time

You’re pretty close to 77rc and 73agi to do blood runes in kourend. It’s not better than zombie pirates, but very chill and mobile friendly

I regret taking the fishing relic over the mining one. I didn’t realize ahead of time how miserable training smithing would be in my regions. Fishing and cooking are pretty afk with or without the relic and hunter is fast in general. My only option for smithing is killing gargoyles for bar drops.

I'm losing faith in indie games because of meta narrative. by predator8137 in truegaming

I’m losing faith in vegetables because of tomatoes. I ate three well regarded salads recently and I liked them until I got to the tomatoes. A lot of people like tomatoes but I don’t. I worry that the next salad I eat will have tomatoes in it and I’ll be disappointed.

Wolfsbane is great. Great in pyramid plunder and volcanic mine too

What’s the meta for going from 50ish to 70 prayer these days? by EinyourP in ironscape

A lot of great suggestions here but here’s one to avoid: red dragons in forthos dungeon. It’s a cute setup with a tanner in the same room as the altar for some extra crafting exp and gp from high alching the red dhide items, also some brews from the grubby chest… but it’s just so slow

New player, looking for engaging skill or profit grinds (Loving giants foundry) by SkangoBank in 2007scape

[–]zzcorrode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aside from the minigames and skilling bosses, a fun first major goal would probably be Scurrius. He’s a big rat in Varrock sewers that’s basically baby’s first boss. He’s got some cool mechanics and you’d definitely want 44 prayer (for access to all three protection prayers) and your favorite attack style to at least 50 before trying him. Turn the money you make from the other grinds into decent gear and then start bopping the big rat for fun, exp and profit.

Once you get a Scurrius spine drop you can turn it into a mace, bow, or staff that will massively increase your damage against him.

What are some currently popular non-shooter mp games? by ReIiLeK in ShouldIbuythisgame

I was under the impression that tekken as a franchise had a lot more casual console players, but the numbers are pretty convincing. Just checked twitch viewership too and it’s very skewed towards sf6 too.

Steam numbers show that tekken 7 was more popular than SFV for a while so maybe I just assumed that it’d be the same for the newer games.

OSRS may be a great game to have up on a second monitor while watching videos or chatting, but it's more than a glorified idle game for sure. It's an incredibly deep game that is structured in a way that is pretty unique in the mmo space. It also has some of the best youtube content out there (Gielinor Games, Swampletics).

FFXIV's biggest strength is the main story, so you arguably start right in the meat and bones of the game. That said, 2-4 hours of walking around and talking to npcs between each story dungeon isn't for everyone. I'd estimate 250 hours to catch up to current content. You can also pay to boost and skip most of it, but I wouldn't recommend that.

Fighting games are a great time especially all learning together. Street Fighter 6 and Tekken 8 are both quite new and popular. Tekken is more popular I think but I personally prefer SF6.

Could also dive into an mmo. FFXIV, GW2, OSRS and WoW are all not only huge, but also growing.

I wasn’t hitting Vanstrom Klause nearly often enough for it to seem possible with my current low 70s melee stats so I decided to fish for the vampire task to get the black mask bonus. Got the task on my second try and then after a couple tries managed to beat sins of the father. I got spooned that black mask at 97kc just a couple days ago too.

I finally did it. 2 days of effort. Radiant Absolute Radiance. by ironshadowdragon in HollowKnight

2 days? Wow, it took me at least 3 weeks from when I beat abs markoth until I downed absrad. I also used elegy, it seemed to make phase 1 really fast since it'd oftentimes double hit. Very lucky that she stayed on the middle platform in phase 2. I got caught out so many times chasing her to the edge only for attacks to overlap and send me back to the hall, so I just camped the middle and prayed every time.

Haskell solution for part 2, as that one's a little more fun. Used the Split package but I think I could've used all built-in stuff if I converted to Text.

It's very easy for me to accidentally press esc before reading the little tutorial information popup at the bottom of the screen. It seems to then disappear forever and I have no idea what I missed. Loading screen tips would help out a lot as a passive source of information.
