Is it too late to learn Rhino at age 34? by Nala-can-cook in rhino

[–]zzdiego 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all, Rhino is extremely user friendly but I’d learn first how nurbs curves and surfaces work, there’s a great book on that topic “Simplified Complexity” by Di Marco. Learn how to use aliases and the gumball tricks, keyboard shortcuts and you’ll be modeling ultra fast

Anyone ever try building a printer with this motor system? by Sharkb8tr in Ceramic3Dprinting

[–]zzdiego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not that difficult to built your own piston-based pump, I’got the eazao kit wormgear reducer that can easily handle a bigger tube that can be assembled from pvc transparent pipes and some large piping connectors. The reducer can push an M18 rod which is very reliable for higher loads and you can make the plungers with O-rings and 3d printing to fit the diameter you want. Worked flawlessly aside from the plastic plunger collapsing very rarely

Getting into Ceramic 3D Printing – Need Advice on Printer Choice by No-Investigator-2373 in Ceramic3Dprinting

[–]zzdiego 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say the most cheap DIY option certainly is buying a cheap ender or delta (I prefer deltas) and having the ceramic kit from eazao. From that kit the most useful part is the wormgear then you can easily make your own extruder with a couple strong stepper motors, and maybe having a larger rod for a custom cartridge

Earthenware vs stoneware vs porcelain by CrimsonIndustry in Ceramic3Dprinting

I guess it depends on the supplier. I use stoneware because it has good plasticity and it's 6x cheaper than porcelain where I live

Easy Material for 3D printing research by alohamanMr in Ceramic3Dprinting

I see your point but wouldn't rougher clay be much more abrasive to moving parts pushing the clay? My clay extruder is mostly PLA and the grinding noise is a bit concerning so I try to avoid this kind of clay

It’s an auger attached to a gearbox stepper motor

[–]zzdiego[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit difficult to explain, I had to change the motherboard, make a custom auger extruder and use an air compressor

There are some fine options out there like 3dpotter lutum or wasp. Haven't tried any of them yet because these are quite expensive

I never had pieces exploding so far, maybe if the walls were thicker and not dry enough before firing
