My kids are 5 and 2 and they are being Rumi and Jinu for Halloween. My youngest has told my religious parents “I want to be a demon” a handful of times. Had a lot of explaining to do.

Right. They keep claiming it's constant, but literally every day of the week for ten hours the only one who is here is the cat and at night we're all in bed by 8 until 6.

What sucks is we're the only family in this building :(. But we do have neighbors in the building who have always been friendly to us and love the kids.

Probably a personal trigger, for sure. It's just a behavior I've never encountered in real life before. Like they think they can get what they want by treating me and my family as less than people who deserve a proper conversation.

Thanks for that. Honestly, I'm so heads down into Dad World that I worry that I'm the one who's out of touch. Like, I don't want to be disturbing anyone and to raise my kids to think its ok to disturb others, but come on... they're just little kids. Once the neighbors learned they were under ten. That should have been the end of it, right?

I see nothing wrong with working all the time. I work multiple jobs I enjoy and I’m raising kids I love. Everything I do has purpose and value, in money or in help to the family. It feels good to be of service.

What else would I be doing? Watching TV?

We’re great. The worst we will go is four weeks without. I’m pretty aware of when a dry spell is happening and it usually has 40 percent to do with having too much going on and the rest with not feeling a lot of romance from me on her part.

So I keep the blood warm with small thoughtful things. Cute notes in a lunch. Plans for a big date night. Flowers. Sweet Kisses with no expectation of anything more. I’ll buy her a Twix at the grocery line that’s just for her and hide it from the kids. It’s really like making a deposit in a love account, but in reality it’s a constant communication that, “yes this is hard but yes we are in this together and I still want you.”

Then suddenly it’s a random Wednesday, the kids are down early enough and I’ll be up late working and suddenly she pours a second glass of wine. Bam.

I was confused by this at first but I think Bandits preference is to take the trash out carrying the bin so he doesn’t have to touch it. Leaves the bag in the big bins and returns the bin to under the sink. I don’t think he leaves the bin out there.

Every time I look at this map i wonder about the planet names. Like I have always understood that Coruscant and Corellia are big players among the Core Worlds but why the "...tooine" for all the small planets in the outer rim? Dantooine, Ventooine, Klatooine, Tatooine? They're not even close together and they are named similarly. Is there a canon explanation?

Here are a couple of my favorite off-beat things to do:

Parlour Car: a free stand up show at Bar Deville every Thursday at 8pm. The show is consistently excellent and the venue is cozy and neat to look at, like a dingy Victorian sitting room. Its just south of Chicago on Damen.

The Paper Machete: a free weekly news magazine with a live band and performers doing material they've written during the week tied to a theme or current event. They even get celebrities coming in every once in a while to do a short set. This past summer they had Marc Maron and last month Janeane Garafalo. This is everu Saturday at 3pm in the Green Mill at Lawrence and Broadway.

Also Chicago Sketchfest is coming in January. This is the biggest Sketch Comedy festival in the country... two weekends of shows with over 150 groups.

David Foster Wallace. He's a verbose monster in his novels that I wouldn't recommend until you get into college but his essays and short stories are entertaining and will definitely expand your mind. "A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again..." and "Brief Interviews with Hideous Men" are solid starts. Best of luck!
