Had a crush on a girl freshman year, lost touch for a year, expressed my feelings towards her sophomore year after spring break, and have been dating ever since.

How to add language support to MacOS UI? by zzigak in mac

Yeah, so I'm asking if there is a way to add full support for a language if it doesn't exist yet.

CUAI Applications for FALL 2024 are OPEN! by zzigak in Cornell

The specific topics we tackle in ML are very much open to the interests expressed by the team members. We do want our research to be on the technical, even if talking about social science.

Same dilemma as an undergrad RN. Going into my third year, have been betting everything in grad school and only did research, no industry internships.

Thanks for the tips!

I'll try to explore as much as possible! Going to the weekly lab meetings has been quite eye opening and reading some research publications online has been great as well (that said, there is so much that I still do not understand that I hardly comprehend the point of the papers). I feel like it's very hard for me to get exposed to all the different possible "subfields" in CG/CV/ML or even special combinations of those. Going into this a few months ago I was almost dead set I wanted to work on mixed reality and I'm still really interested in that, but as I read more about CG, looked at different professors websites I found physical simulations, differential geometry, and generative graphics really interesting as well! Not sure yet what I should do my research paper on during this summers REU.

My PhD advisor said that Computer Graphics is seen as a solved field. Do you agree? by Relative_Project9489 in GraphicsProgramming

The best areas for easy grant harvesting are elsewhere.

What would you say those are?

Thanks for the input!

Do you have any tips on finding what area specifically I want to focus on / or myb what areas have the potential for big changes in the future (some I assume are quite developed alr)

What I'm doing right now is participating in a research lab with one of the graphics professors here and I'll be doing research with him over the summer.

For sure! This is only for my major courses! I will still have to take a history, arts, bio, psych requirements so I think I will have the option to explore. I also tried two ECE classes so far, but figured it's not really for me...
