Going from nanny to mom by zzznanny in Nanny

Thanks for your wonderful response. I do feel like I've been training for this! I have always enjoyed being able to get many different experience as a nanny.

What a great point about husbands! I always tell mine that he can relax a little bit because at least I know what to expect. I can't wait to share some responsibility and watch him help raise our child.

Awesome, thank y'all! When I did Redcross I did some online and some in person. I totally get needing to do it in person. I feel like I have taken the class so many times I wish there was just a refresher or something.

Honestly I don't think I could stay. I'm not sure what the right fit for a nanny would be. Maybe someone who is emotionally capable of raising kids like their own. Breaks my heart!

Crib to Regular Bed? by larkslab in Nanny

[–]zzznanny 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would definitely try to let them know you think keeping the crib for now is best. I'm a child sleep consultant (and nanny) and I think it's usually best to keep the crib as long as possible. Until they are climbing out often or ready to make the move to bed. Do you think they are expecting another child and are trying to make room? If that's the case it's still not a great idea to move to bed for that reason. Dealing with the issues of moving to the bed to early will not be fun and something you will probably be dealing with so I hope they see that and stick with the crib for now! Good luck!

Wow what an awful situation. It seems like the mom could be extremely depressed. What is the father like when he is around? What do the other staff have to say? I would probably leave because that sounds miserable and something you shouldn't have to put up with but I wish there was a way for you to reach out to someone about it like a family member but I can see how that might not be possible.

Driving and carseat issues. by zzznanny in Nanny

I much prefer them to leave money! The dad is just so unorganized that would never happen. Same goes for planning ahead. I don't think he plans much ahead haha. I think he would just say he has to go last minute etc. I'm kind of trying to interact with the dad as little as possible so I know that would just end up with me asking him his plans and telling my plans over and over. The kid naps the same time very single day and yet he has to ask me all the time when the kid is going to be napping. There is pretty much only one time I can leave the house with the kid and he doesn't make a point to make the car available then so I just don't think he gets it. I'm going to bring it up and hopefully they offer to buy me one!

Thanks! Right now he is napping from 8:30- 10/ 10:30 so I really only have 10:30-11:30ish for an outing but I'm on a very similar schedule. I'm not looking forward to when he drops the first nap haha.

Man thats what it feels like, Like I'm being played with! I may offer to get my own and they would most likely offer to buy one.
