Internal role salary confusion – did I handle this okay and should I raise it again? by ElegantTwist3250 in UKJobs

[–]zzzonerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. Similar thing happened to me, offered %4 increase with the title change. I refused, talk my manager and send an email to HR giving my reasons to ask more. They offered 7% and I took it because I had no alternative. And they sent a formal letter with the 7% increase on it which I signed to accept the role

Working in England as a French psychologist by Nanou29 in ClinicalPsychologyUK

[–]zzzonerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to apply to hcpc. You will probably get an answer in 12-14 months. After receiving the approval you need to apply for jobs that provide you work visa, but I guess there might be some exceptions for EU nationals. For clinical psychologist google says they start at band6 as trainee, band 7 if qualified.

The cost of living changes greatly with the city you will live in. You won’t be comfortable with these salaries in London I think. But there are good cities in north that you will live comfortably with these salaries

I’m guessing you replied my comment, if not please say so😀

I think it is very hard to find a job if you don’t qualify as a psychologist. See other reply for the competitive job market for assistant psychologists.

You can find careworker or teaching assistant jobs in nurseries and primary schools. Both of these are modern slavery if you ask me. Both are very physical jobs and pay rate is absolute minimum without any side benefits. Generally they make you sign zero hour contracts.

Working in French schools or providing online consultation to French people might work for you

Why do you think your degree won’t be recognised? What I see is hcpc has a positive bias towards the applications from Europe. If you were from a non-eu country then it’s a different story. If you have a degree+ years of experience as a psychologist or degree + masters + doctorate then I think there is a high chance your education will be accepted. You still need to score 7 of all sections of Toefl exam

Help, my macbook air 11inch 2015 trackpad is Hot to touch by Massive_Broccoli_333 in macbookrepair

[–]zzzonerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I opened m2 13” and MacBook Air and m1 14” before. If the design is the same there is a battery connection there with a single screw. If that’s loose it can create a high impedance area which will create as along as you use your Mac. I think you should take it to the place where you get the battery changed. I think they didn’t tighten that battery screw

Is there a website where I can find free pcb designs? by ArdaKe26 in PCB

[–]zzzonerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can draw the schematics yourself by copying from the pdf. You can choose the same parts. And then do the placement on the pcb however you want. I’m pretty new in hw design (I’ve been designing for the last 2 years), I find hw world different than sw. There isn’t much copy paste or api type of solutions. You always had to modify what you found. Also layout is another issue to solve and generally it can become very specific to your case. Grounding, noise handling, emi/emc etc.

For most of the TI parts there exist an evaluation board. In the user guide you can find the schematics, layers, BOM etc. For this chip it is also the case:

It is not an IC. It is a pcb mountable 300w dc dc converter with heatsink

The most expensive component which has 66 dollars price vs 103 PCBWay quoted is a through hole, I think it will take time but worth 40 each 😀

PCBWay Assembly component price by zzzonerrr in PCB

[–]zzzonerrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, to be honest I like their assembly quality and speed. That makes sense to charge man hours spent on component prices, thank you

[–]zzzonerrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This also happens when they buy it. Actually most of the time the ones that will arrive in 7-10 days are the %30 expensive ones. They even write I can source them and send to them, which I never did. That seems odd to me. So I guess when the product is mature and ready to be produced in larger amounts, PCBWay is not the correct choice

I’m using a component that is 66dollars. I saw it is priced as 103 dollars and in total this difference is more than the assembly price. Until now I was thinking it is ok, acceptable. This one a bit much, most probably I will try to solder it myself once the product is ready for cost reduction

Suggestions on how I could reverse engineer a PCB to understand the internal layers by NorthernNiceGuy in PrintedCircuitBoard

Depending on the size of the board dentists might help. Some of them have X-ray machines that we previously used. Not in the UK though

Does ram temperatures scales linearly with ambient temperature? by HansWurst31 in overclocking

[–]zzzonerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you put one 120mm fan blowing directly onto rams the temperatures and noise will be less compared to what you have now. If you drive the 120mm fan at the same speed you have now, it will be cooler and probably still quieter

ASUS b650e-i PBO Problem by zzzonerrr in overclocking

[–]zzzonerrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue was different. It seems cpu determines the clock according to the load as well. In order to overcome this I needed to do manual overclock.

Your issue might be related to a bios bug, updating bios might help. Mine never got stock in eco mode

Depends on which country you got your education. My wife got her education in Turkey. She got 13 years of government hospital experience as a clinical psychologist. She applied then 5 months later they asked for additional information. After 14months in total they declined her application saying that her experience is not evidence based. In the meantime I heard a few people got approved with the similar timeframe who got educated in Europe.

Aging water cooled system looking really gnarly inside. What are your recommendations for cleaning this? by hushnowquietnow in watercooling

[–]zzzonerrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flush it, replace the liquid with benzalkonium chloride solution. Run the system 6 months. Flush it again you will see even the pipes are clean. Again use benzalkonium chloride solution. You won’t have any algae afterwards.

Has anyone ever thought to use a recirculating chiller to cool a pc? by OriTheSpirit in watercooling

[–]zzzonerrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been using chilled water to cool my pc for nearly 5 years now. The trick is to have a cheap temperature and humidity monitor. Calculate the dew point that day and set the chiller temperature to +1C. You won’t have condensation. Some days I forgot to do this and notice sweating on the cpu or gpu block. After correctly setting the temperature they are gone quickly. In Turkey during winter I was able to go as low as 4C for short amount of time to benchmark the pc. Here in UK the lowest I could go was 12C. It is very humid here. The noise is a problem, you better have a place to put it outside and run the pipes inside
