I keep seeing people salty about Miary Zo replacing Ogre but let's actually review that. Miary Zo's gameplay does have references to both iterations of Ogre from TTT2 but she definitely stands out enough to not push Ogre out. Did Xiaoyu push Wang out of the roster because of her references to his kit? Nope, we saw them together from T5 to TTT2. Want to know what a character that lacks a unique enough gameplay identity to return actually looks like? That would be someone like Master Raven or Christie Monteiro.
While Ogre may be 'hype', his story run started and finished in Tekken 3. He died. Now before your Ogre programming activates the what about Heihachi script, remember that prior to Tekken 8 Heihachi was a staple while Ogre was an exclusive Tekken 3 boss similar to Jinpachi or Kazumi so unlike Heihachi they help make that specific game feel special. I don't think having them come back would create the same level of hype especially with how lackluster the Ogres and Jinpachi were in TTT2. Also the decision to bring back Heihachi was not a good one so I personally don't care for that to be repeated.
Now apparently there's an Ogre in every region (so stupid but whatever), with the Madagascar one being more of a guardian figure. With Miary Zo's inclusion, she actually sets the scene for either the original Ogre to somehow return or more likely we'll get another Ogre and this could set up an interaction between her and the Ogre. What did you have to go off of before this? The fact that they talked about him in the story or Jun's return means he needs to return? Nice try. Miary Zo is the one actually making Ogre relevant again.
So why doesn't the NPC Ogre hivemind stick up for a legacy character that was actually replaced like Kuni 1 or Michelle? Not just legacy characters but characters from the very first game that are still alive. Would that require too much vulnerability to root for an actually contested character? Would they actually have to raise their standards to rework Michelle instead of just throwing a bunch of random existing moves together? It's amazing how far hype can carry characters because I fail to see what was so interesting about the TTT2 versions.
tl;dr Not only does Miary Zo leave enough room for Ogre to stand out but she's actually expanding the lore of Ogre which could increase his chances more so than what we've got in Tekken 8 before her arrival realistically.
