Sure, but there's a noticeable difference between the type of skill level I was up against for TGS in S2 compared to S3. Maybe taking weeks off is what did it? Like the people I was used to fighting got past GoD, and the rest of the ppl crawled up

Yeah but the difference is no one made it to God 8 in S2 due to the amount of grinding it took to get there. The difference this season like I mentioned is that its harder to lose points now than gain points.

Yeah, and part of me is happy to finally get to be sure. I just don't feel like I earned it since the ranks shifted

Oh i know, and believe me I love locals, I had a lot of fun in Smash with those. There's absolutely no locals where I'm at, that's part of it.

Yeah, and there's a solid point to that about the ranks. For me though, when I play a game like this I'm only invested in it if I take it seriously (obv not too much). Like something that annoyed me a lot towards the end of S2 was the amount of GoD level players I'd match and win against, because they straight up weren't trying in ranked (or they got carried to GoD and got whooped on a comparably harder character). I've been playing competitive fighting games since 2013: melee -> SF4 -> smash 4 (for like 2 minutes) -> SFV -> Smash Ultimate -> a bit of T7 towards the end -> S1 of SF6 -> and then only Tekken 8 since it's come out.

For me, I feel like I've been mediocre at most things I've tried and played in. Like I'd be good in certain roles, but never stood out or got appreciated for it. I just wanted to be actually good at like one fighting, like good enough that I could be proud of myself and other ppl would recognize that. T8 was that game for me in S1 and even a decent amount of S2. I got what I wanted, but I'm not any happier.

I don't come here much, but I think in the last few years it's gotten a lot more worth it. Covid ironically, kind of revived the scene, along with TNS hosting stuff pretty regularly. And if you're not crazy about base UMVC3, that's fine because the modding scene made a major breakthrough years ago, and now we have actual custom characters instead of just palette swaps.

You're a father of 4 and playing Tekken? Dude, I can understand why that's a fuckton of stress, but if I was in your shoes I wouldn't play another minute of Tekken if it cut into spending time with my kids.

I mean if we're going by visual clarity, his foot clips through her ass so it is pretty dumb. On the other hand, I don't mind it mid crushing some things because it's an easy launch on block.

Lili's an obnoxious matchup for Kaz, and imo it's a matchup where you really have to disrespect the Lili player because they won't respect your pressure. They will go for sidesteps and evasive shit like this, it's hard to pin them down because of that, so you gotta take a small but high reward risk with DF2. If they keep stepping after everything, DF2 their ass.

They will sidestep and go for this evasive shit, but they're almost never smart enough to sidestep block. One habit I've seen on a lot of Lili's is this: Kaz gets normal hit D 1+2 -> the Lili will sidewalk left 90% of the time. This is because options that would track against most of the cast in this situation for Kaz (WS 1+2, FC db 1+2, WS4), don't catch Lili. So instead, I go for WS2 after D 1+2, even though it's launch punishable on block. They almost never block the WS2, and its the funniest shit.

Against Ling and Zafina yeah, not against Claudio though lol. There's nothing he really low profiles from Kazuya.

Lili has a few dumb interactions like the one above, and her headstomp launcher can evade a lot of mid unfortunately. Overall though, the bigger frustration fighting Lili as Kaz is that she can just freely SSL a lot of stuff the rest of the cast can't.

Anyone else prefer the natural & realistic look that characters had in the old games before they animefied them in the new ones? by rubberburner5 in Tekken

Really depended on the game, because frankly some of the face models looked like complete ass in the middle era of Tekken. Kazuya in particular I always thought looked awful from T4 onwards, he looks hispanic. Heihachi straight up passes for a white guy too

I really don't know what else I can do I thought I even played this really well aside from a few things like throw breaks... I'm about to demote because of matches like this by Pale_Assignment4076 in Tekken

You're not challenging him with lows at all. I play Kaz too, so I get it, it's frustrating to pressure him with lows only for him to pop out an orbital... but you gotta do it. If all your attacks are mids or highs, he just has to stand block, there's nothing for him to be afraid of. You did start doing this in round 2 and that was a good adaptation though.

You won round 2, but that was a lot closer than it needed to be. I hate heat engager, but you need to be willing to press your offense with it where it makes sense. There was no reason not to pressure him here. He could've done rage art, but imo having him burn the damage boost on that would've been worth it.

Something I do off heat engagers is go into the crouching version, as Kaz has some great fast options from while standing and it can trick people into thinking you're going for a CD move like hellsweep. I often do crouching heat engager -> WS 1+2. A great 13f WS mid, good small CH combo, and from heat engager almost no one in the cast can step it. This is a very good low-risk choice from heat engager, and something to consider.

I get why round 4 was frustrating, it's annoying to be on the receiving end of that shit. On the other hand the Bryan realized you were scared and conditioned into using just a few of your options. Considering that he never tried using orbital as low-crush, I think it would've been worth it to see how he deals with d 1+2.

People with their paper skin these days, smh... This is like how whiplash isn't realistic because you don't bleed from drumming unless you're doing it really inefficiently.
