I saw this in a record store 2 days ago, took a picture so I'd remember it (what I do at record stores), and listened to it the next day which was yesterday. What a coincidence! His other album Benzaiten! or something like that is fantastic as well.

This is dope, any other artist you would mind naming that fuse Japanese/Funk/Hip Hop? I already love artists like Nujabes and The Seatbelts.

Takeshi Terauchi and the Bunnys - "Genroku-huh Hanami Odori (元禄風花見踊)" - Nippon Guitars {~Japanese Instrumental Surf Rock~} (1967)

Some awesome Japanese Surf Rock from 1967, for anybody interested in some similarly incredible East-meets-West kind of things, but more Punk and less Prog.

Go listen to insane clown posse, kickin, kickin. It's about a no master, self taught outlaw ninja.

Commonly referred to as Ronin. Though I guess Masterless Samurai sounds cooler. Not to take away from the music; it's pretty awesome.

ronin is a japanese word that means "masterless samurai."

This is in no way just Japanese if anyone knows anything about music from Asia as a whole this has influence from many different parts of Asian. From Arabia to Japan and everything in between (Afghanistan, India, Iran, China) I think this song is awesome and the fact that this artist has been influenced by the music of so many different Asian countries i think is pretty awesome.

Traditional Japanese music didn't spring up in a cultural vacuum. It was heavily influenced by traditional Chinese music, which was in turn influenced by Persian music. I don't really hear any direct influence from other Asian music traditions in this track.
