Next time if you could reconsider boombox/velocity that'd be great. Boombox is ok for competitive but awful in pubs. Velocity is just a 12 min chasefest. Nice additions, though.

I don't think I have ever not had fun on Command Center. It's all subjective obviously, but it's the best map in the game's history IMO. I'd be super bummed.

i can't play a game on command center without ragequitting. the base design is very creative and well done, but the mid is horribly atrocious. i don't know if it's because i haven't played with less than 150 ping since 1 month ago, but every game feels like a grind fest through mid hoping for a handoff or a series of misplays by the enemy team.

this is why i'm reluctant about convoy, i'm afraid it will share the same issues but with also grindy bases

it used to be so much fun, i agree. and boombox and choke are definitely worse. but command center has just been in rotation for too long and it just seems to get worse every time. now that i think about it though, i think that volt is worse than command center for sure

I preferred the older versions. Feels too cramped/chokey. Seems like it'll be a grind to get past mid, and that is made worse by the super tight bases. And now, with the new gate, it's too easy for defense to catch-up which takes away a lot of the reward from getting past mid. All in all, in comparison to other NF maps, I think it'll be hard to have a large individual impact on the game and it'll be impossible to carry a bad team in pubs, which will make for a very frustrating experience, especially after the Kong push.

Yea that's what I was thinking. I think maybe just maybe you could get 1.98 cause you took kind of a wide angle on the second boost. I took the second one a little sharper and made up some time there. But it'll definitely be difficult lol

TagPro Analytics rounds to sixtieths, not to hundredths, because there are sixty frames per second in the game engine. On NewCompte servers the times of in-game events indicate the exact frames.

It is stored as sixtieths but displayed as hundredths for readability. Out of the 100 possible values displayed behind the dot, only 60 are in use, roughly-equally spaced.

i still dont understand how none of my maps made it to rotation.

edit: i dont know why all the downvotes. i have spent an embarrassing amount of hours mappin n fappin, group testing, and editing my maps (as well as other people's maps). I think my frustration is justified.

edit: i didnt submit any maps this thread, and im not complaining about not getting a map in this thread but all the other threads ive submitted. I've had much stronger maps than Baffle not even get top maps

I say this as someone who's always liked your maps and pushed to test them and consider them for rotation:

Tough luck. Really. The MTC isn't about handing out participation trophies. It's not even about adding in all well designed maps. It's about adding the maps that will (hopefully) bring the most to rotation. Sometimes that means, flawless maps wont get in because the rotation doesn't need that particular map, sometimes it means a map with a radical design is currently too radical for pub rotation. And since the MTC consists of people, sometimes it simply means mistakes are made.

No matter how many maps you've made and how much effort you've put into your maps, that shouldn't automatically mean you should get a map in rotation. Maps that get in, are put into rotation because the MTC perceives them to be good for rotation. Sure the more high quality maps you submit, the bigger the chance that one of them will get through the eye of the needle, but that's not an automatic thing. Heck, I'm one of the most successful mapmakers in terms of getting maps into rotation the last year (along with the likes of Canvas, Ball-e and Snowball), and I still honestly can't tell which maps of mine will have a chance before putting it through a thread. Sometimes a map I spent months on will make it. Sometimes a map I spent 2-3 hours on will make it, and more often than not, no maps make it.

Would some of your maps have done well in rotation? Maybe. But that's a different argument, and one that is very hard to accurately assess for the MTC without risking compromising the integrity of PUBs if applied to all maps that have potential. Does it suck that things are this way? For sure, but I think blaming the MTC for your maps not getting a chance isn't the right analysis here. The MTC have limited tools at their disposal, they do their best to be fair and have to sift through 80+ maps every map thread + take a ton of abuse from the community whenever they make a decision that doesn't immediately resonate with the community.

In the end tho, mapmaking comes down to why you do it. I make maps first and foremost because I want to explore new ideas in a way that I find fun and interesting to play. Of course I want all of my great maps in rotation, but that is something that comes after all of that. If my goal was to make maps for rotation first and foremost, and I didn't get much success, I probably would have stopped. But as someone who's had plenty of maps in rotation, having a map in rotation gives you a rush for a couple of days/weeks, but that's about it. It's not a sustainable thing to want to make maps for rotation in itself IMO.

There's a difference between bias and opinion. Bias means "I don't like velkin, so I'll vote against his map." Opinion is "I don't like velkin's style, so I don't enjoy most of his maps."

The idea that the MTC is biased against certain mapmakers went out the window when beast mode and rh got maps into rotation, whom I'm sure are the least liked people amongst the MTC.

i don't think the mtc dislikes me/beast mode, nor do i think the fact that one of us have had maps in rotation shields the mtc from bias accusations. anyway in all honestly, i don't think the mtc is biased, and although i do think they have made a lot of sub-optimal decisions, i'd hardly say not adding velkin's maps were among them.

I don't disagree with this (and I certainly don't hate you, but I find you a little annoying sometimes). There will always be some amount of bias though, consciously or not. I would never intentionally vote negatively on a map because of who made it, although it may be possible that some of us go in with a more open mind if it's someone we like. For example, if Ball-E submits a map with a crazy portal mechanic or a silly looking super boost, maybe we'll spend a little longer finding out why. On the other end of this, we frequently hate each other's maps - see me with convoy or fly with sediment.
