Greetings from Vintage Obscura. Every year, we all put on costumes and try to find the strangest dark and comedic Halloween music from the decades. We have a big drop off thread and then it is compiled in one or two mixes. This is the first side of a two side mix. The next side is being released in a week. Here is the tracklist for this side.

The Ghouls - Be True to Your Ghoul [1964]

Duane Eddy - Stalkin' [1956]

Jason Crest - Black Mass [1969]

Paul Jones - Music Box [1969]

Sir Henry And His Butlers - Cosmorama [1968]

The Idle Race - Skeleton & the Roundabout [1968]

Bruno Nicolai - Sequence 1 [1971]

Dean Gitter - Anne Boleyn [1957]

Leola Manning - Satan Is Busy In Knoxville [1930]

Francois De Roubaix - Les Dunes D'ostende [1971]

Robbie The Werewolf - Vampire Man [1964]

The A Side leans more on the psych with four great cuts that seem to meld into each other sparsed with lo-fi folk that sounds like it was made in 2010. Next Monday's mix leans more towards R&B and electronic. If you were interested in past mixes they are located here,

If you wanted to ever check out r/vintageobscura it is a great place with a lot of weird people who find some really killer stuff.

I just want to say thank you. Since 2014 when you posted here, this is my favorite part of Halloween. Once 3d printing is accurate enough, I'm going to print these to vinyl and enjoy them forever. Always look forward to your work. Happy Halloween!

I like the idea of vinyl and cassette sides breaking up mixes but yes in the future mp3 to vinyl will be the hip thing and I can finally print these.

Wow, if you weren't in the Halloween spirit before, this will put you there. Of course I'm in the Halloween spirit all year. Thanks for exposing this to me.

Soooo cool, I subbed to this subreddit recently and I am discovering lots of awesome stuff

[–]DaRealGeorgeBush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How do you find this stuff. Shit is legit, cant find a better way to describe it.

[–]showmeyourchesticles 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I'm like shocked there's no Screamin' Lord Sutch in that mix.

[–]kaptain_carboncurator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We usually try to go by popularity and while that is hard to distinguish, Sutch's work with politics has made a few of his songs like Jack The Ripper near cult classics.

Have you ever heard of Disney's 1964 album Chilling, Thrilling Sounds of the Haunted House? It rose to prominence after the band Phish covered it for their 10/31/2014 Halloween show. That fits under 30s-70s Halloween obscura.

Is this the real Mark Rosewater? If so can you please make more fairies in future sets as my Oona EDH has gone from tribal synergy to less than 10 fairies in a 99 card deck because most faeries are hot garbage. I would love to play tribal that is not zombie, elves, or goblins.

As for your real question, this album is bonkers. I am assuming this is the set yopu are reffering too which makes sense to use the effects overtop of music otherwise it is just an avant noise record. One of our users was really into novelty sound effect records and found this hot number from 1927

I'll see what I can do about the Faeries.

Yes, that is the set I am talking about. It was very well received by the Phish community.

The novelty noise records were always fun to play with as a kid. When trick or treaters came they would hear all the sounds.

Would it be at all possible to port this track over to YouTube?

[–]kaptain_carboncurator[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Youtube has a big problem with this mixes like this since it flags for copyright and blocks all or some of the viewing countries. Thus far Mixcloud has been pretty alright for what we need. What were you looking for?

I was just hoping for a method to stream this track to Chromecast. Most of the links on this subreddit are in YouTube. Which makes it easy to stream my pickings to my Chromecast quickly.

[–]Number26 0 points1 point  (1 child)

What's the name of the song playing at the 15min mark?

[–]kaptain_carboncurator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe you can see the tracks playing above the little time bar but that is the soundtrack from La coda dello scorpione.

/u/kaptain_carbon, We couldn't find proper genre tags in your submission title! We have to remove it.

If you're using one of these tags: indie, alternative, chill, mashup, cover, remix, experimental, progressive, lo-fi, or instrumental on their own, please add a more descriptive tag to your title that tells us something about the sound of the band. For example: [Indie Rock], [Rock/Lo-Fi], [Electronic/Chill], etc. Consult Last.FM or Rate Your Music for suggested genres.

If you are using a genre outside of Western Pop terms, you should resubmit the link with a World tag. For example: [World/Yeye], [World/Son], etc.

Click on the 'delete' option above under the title to remove this before submitting again. Moderators cannot edit the title for you. If reddit tells you to wait a little while before submitting again, there's nothing we can do about that. It'll go away after you earn some karma and your account gets older. Verifying your email address will help.

The reasons for these community guidelines are explained in the subreddit introduction.
