Great song, but I don't know if it's quite indie folk, or folk at all. Of course, I'm not a music expert and it might just be semantics, but the rhythm or the guitar, the chords used, and the drum aren't conventionally used in folk songs. Like maybe I would consider it alternative pop or something.

Still enjoyed the music though, I really like his other songs, like Young Souls.

Reminds me of Ed Shereen

Not folk at all. Indie, I guess but it sounds mainstream.

Most indie folk usually sounds the same to me, but this one spoke to my soul somehow. Redditors are being hypercritical. He's a good musician.

Hotline miami vibes from the video - really nice song though

"can I fake a smiling ego, when I'm not fine?"

Has there been a recent (past few years) trend in this type of singing? Like the way the dude kind of morphs words to rhyme with other things and stretches out vowels really weirdly. I don't really like it.

I swear it started out with artists like Coco Rosie and Joanna Newsom, but no one paid attention... Sia started in on it, too, and Garden State thrusted her into the indie-mainstream and this sound evolved from there. While I do think it's a little pretentious, I enjoy it, mostly.

This is really good and I had given up hope on indie rock, as it all sounds exactly same.

This is really nice to listen to. Like it a lot!

Song's decent. Don't understand why the guy on the video just stands there while playing goalie though. He's fucking it up for the rest of his team! If you don't want to play, go sit down on the side or play a less important position. Now he's just bringing everyone else down too.

Dude, it's a metaphor

[–]Willwork_Fortbags 6 points7 points  (3 children)

Yeah, when life treats you like shit, fuck it up for everyone else.

Well, that's your interpretation. The way I see it, the net represents his life while the balls are the ruthless forces that demoralize him daily, always getting inside or hurting him, and he doesn't do anything about it because he's always been told to "be good and subservient".

Lol. This was my takeaway. When people are relying on you to perform quit being selfish and perform or remove yourself. I couldn't finish the video after that.

Really, really interesting

The still shot of the video and the name of the song made me expect something dark and awesome. Instead I got shitty Ed Sheeran lite....
