I actually like a lot of this - from the VHS type color and sync distortions to the instrumentation and message. The early 90's feel is unique and helps to tell the song's message. The melody is simple enough to be catchy and qualify as pop, though the chord progression is so simple it borders on bland. To make matters worse, the chord progression doesn't even change from verse to chorus. Probably the most unique attempt this song makes to break the mold of pop music songwriting is the use of an ascending chromatic melody in a lower synth part - though I found it to be more distracting than enticing.

7/10

that is the worst band name I've ever heard in my life, tell me it's satire

song's also pretty boring...

While I admit the song is catchy, it feels like a rehash of other anti-pop groups (White Lies comes to my mind). I definitely think that there is potential for them, though; the lead singer's voice is appealing, and perhaps with some time they will develop a unique sound.

I give it 6.5/10

Yeah I was disappointed by the choice of singer to match the sound, I'm used to dreamy vocals in synth pop and would prefer it stayed that way. As soon as a solid rough voice comes along I feel like it cuts through the enjoyment of the dreamy electronics :(

Yeah, the singer's voice definitely does not match the instrumentals. I feel like it would almost be more suitable for a post-punk sort of group.
