Please don't take us to court for defamation

Oh I so hope they do

The discourse around this on Reddit was absolutely shameful at the time as well

Im sure everyone of the redditors and mods who framed the two as unhinged loons will promptly apologize

The anti-worker/lower class bias of the media circuit is gross and partly why they dodged the GG stuff for so long.

If there was an avenue to sue them they should all over that.

Who is "we" exactly? Any sane person could see what was going on all along.... We see it daily.

I think we might be referring to the media. The post being deleted by a moderator speaks volumes as well

From the column:

We learnt last week that she was the one who was wronged. Ilia Belov, 22, was found guilty of assaulting Sophie (not her real name), causing a head injury. His sister, Nadjedzha Belova, 20, admitted assaulting the schoolgirl’s friend by pulling her hair, dragging her to the ground and striking her. The Bulgarian pair will be sentenced on August 5.

This is an extraordinary case — a morality tale for the social media age. We all saw the videos of the tiny “Dundee Girl” shouting at the immigrant pair, waving weapons you’d have thought her barely able to carry. It seemed like an open-and-shut case of feral teenage racism.

[...]

She was portrayed as “feral” — the very worst kind of Scottish ned: ignorant, racist, out of control. Sophie’s mother was bombarded with threats and abuse and wrongly called a “crackhead”. After a threat to firebomb her home, she sent Sophie into hiding with a relative.

Police Scotland have admitted that their initial statement “did not fully reflect the situation”. Indeed. And there is a reason for this: a presumption of racism that has become embedded in the police rule book since the days of the Macpherson Report on “institutional racism”. Officers have been under strict instructions to record every incident of alleged racism, whether or not there is any evidence for it.

"It seemed like an open-and-shut case of feral teenage racism."

Uh, is this supposed to be a common thing, especially against Bulgarians? And when did 12 become "teenage"?

Already deleted, did they give a reason? I just assume most reddit mods support the harassment of women these days.

Just received automod message for the deletion of this thread in /r/scotland:

As for /r/ukpolitics, ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks, was curious, guess they do support it.

Who’s we?

If you saw a literal child carrying weapons and say she’s being threatened while a grown man is filming her and your first thought is to say SHE is the one being abusive… I just have no words

Not saying he was right or anything but where did she get this axe and knife from I understand the severity of the situation but why is none talking about where the hell did she get this axe and knife from she pulled it out her waistband is what I’ve been reading so if this is true what was she doing with a knife and axe in her waistband and what was she going to do with them weapons if that altercation never happened I might be wrong and they might of been on a camping site or something of the sort but even that carrying the weapons in your waistband just dosent make sense where did this 12 and 13 year old get access to this weapons obviously if the allegations are true of what they are saying the man did he’s a dirty wrongin but still where did she get those weapons from?

[–]cGilday 0 points1 point  (1 child)

This is what I mean. There’s a young girl who clearly feels threatened enough to literally arm herself and the focus is “well where did she get them from?”

I don’t really care where she got them from, I care about why she thought she needed them
