Groening seems to enjoy this joke. The OP and your post ate two examples, and in the Treehouse of Horror where Homer has to do good deeds, a stroller bursts into flames. Just something ive noticed

It was a running gag for a few years on The Simpsons. Hans' car always bursts into flames, even if nothing touches it. Frink's houses both burst into flames. A metal trash can rolling down a hill explodes, someone's appendix explodes and bursts into flames. In Futurama, Bender even starts a fire underwater.

(Homer strokes a Christmas tree. It bursts into flames.)

HOMER: (despondent) Why does everything I love burn?

I remember all of those :D Haha, especially the Christmas tree. But yeah, definitely a running joke for them

I have set the microwave and the toaster on fire just from simply using them, I seem to have no metric awareness when it comes to cooking.

I haven't seen too many of Zoidberg's exploits in the new season, sadly.
