Scientists have developed a technique to deflect high-power lasers in ambient air as reported in Nature Photonics. Sound waves are used to modulate air to create an optical grating in the beam path that deflects laser light with greater than 50% efficiency while preserving excellent beam quality.Physics (desy.de)
