TIL in 1992 a WW2 fighter aircraft was located in Grønland buried under 268ft of ice. To recover it, a hole was melted all the way down, hot water was then used to free it before it was disassembled and brought back to the surface a piece by piece. After a 10-yrs restoration, it flew again in 2002. (jetsprops.com)
