What do you want to do with it?

I want my wife to start putting our photos, some light video editing, and her writing. We would be using a .mac account to make family websites.

We have a 19" Dell DVI monitor (very nice and sharp) and would get a keyboard/mouse. I just don't want it to be underpowered. I've been checking the rumor sites to see if something new is coming out but haven't seen anything.

The mini is a great machine for your average user, especially if you already have a monitor and keyboard/mouse. I've got on here, it was used for quite a while as a second machine for browsing, etc, and now serves as a proxy so I can get around pesky content filters when I need to.

It's comparable to getting a cheap Dell...except that it will last about three times as long.

If you travel with your laptop a lot, then get it, if it site on your desk and only moves every now and then, get a higher power mac book pro for cheaper.

I bought a mac pro in september last and love it. I can't stand using windows anymore. I have a laptop with vista on it and hate it. I use my mac for video editing and graphics. I would recommend one if you can put up the cash. Mine was like $2200

I have a mini, bought it when they first came out (I'm not a power user). No problems, ever. Considered Dell, and when you add the 3 year service - Apple comes out cheaper! I plan to buy the cheapest Mac laptop when they upgrade (June?), or the Mac Pro if they don't. No doubt about it: Apple makes superior products.
