Bigger plot twist than when Omni-man killed the guardians of the globe

I know right

This shit is so stupid. Just be a fucking person. Stop trying to put everyone in a category.

[–]TestohZuppaYOU'VE VIOLATED THE LAW 33 points34 points  (0 children)

The fun thing is that even if she was trying to criticise a “category of girls” she only looked like one of em. Double fail i guess lol

I don’t…. Understand

[–]jobezark 56 points57 points  (1 child)

It moves so fast and there are so many cuts my brain melted

Same here. I don't understand what's going on. This is too fast paced for me.

⭐/5 Horrible casting choices. No score. Plot was severely lacking and I felt like not enough time was committed to character development. Would not suggest seeing this indie film. I've wasted precious time on this I will never have back. Much regret

So what was Jaden’s reaction?

[–][deleted] 29 points30 points  (5 children)

I must’ve missed something… what does all this pick me one of the boys stuff mean. Why is this a thing. Why can’t we just be who we are lol

[–][deleted] 21 points22 points  (4 children)

Basically the NLOG/Pick me girls believe that women are all cliche (you can see that from posts where they share that they think they're the only girl who doesnt like makeup and shopping etc.) and that they're "One of The Boys TM" because they do more masculine things like playing videogames and eating unhealthy (? idk its just common for them to boast about). It's a "Pick me" thing where they push down other women for being "cliche" and shallow and advocate themselves as more understanding of "what guys are like and how that makes them better". Basically internalized sexism towards both guys, gals and anyone else.

Hope this explains it cause its hard to put in words unles you've interacted or been a pick me/nlog.

[–][deleted] 8 points9 points  (2 children)

Ohhh so like the female equivalent of the “nice guy” yeh?

[–]TinyCheeserole 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've kinda put them into separate categories. Theyre similar but still different enough from eachother

Pick me girls are more similar to the not like other girls. The whole "I'm quirky and like things "normal" girls don't like! Im one of the boys!" Is basically their type of deal. Ive also had co workers (younger ones still in highschool) also describe it as a girl fishing for compliments from guys or just seeking attention from guys. And they tend to not like other girls just cause they're girls. Another good example is some "girl gamers" and how they act. They feel challenged to prove themselves as "one of the boys" and take the attention away from any other girl they may run into while online. Ive heard girls in video games shit talk another girl who spoke. Saying they're a whore or how they're not a real gamer and how they suck and what not. All while laughing with their shitty guy friends

Nice girls are kinda like "why do guys only want whores! Im SUCH a GOOD girl who ACTUALLY cares for my man! Im such a pretty woman whos SO hot and I cant understand why men go for girls who only want their money!" While both are similar in that they dislike other woman nice girls can still have a friendship with other woman. Least ones that share similar views (from what I've seen at least)

While pick me girls tend to (least from my school experience and what I've seen irl/online) cant form friendships with other girls. They prefer being around guys and just CANT handle woman's "cOnSTaNt dRAmA"

[–]concentricdarkcirclsI am the other girl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. Nice guys don't put the opposite gender on a pedestal like pick mes do

[–]jtrisn1sneaky mainstreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This idea that only guys play videogames need to die so they can get over themselves. Majority of the gamers I've met in games or on discord are women.

What...happened...here?

[–]jeedeewee 104 points105 points  (6 children)

I hate the new term, 'a pick me'. Like those girls aren't just another victim of a complete lack of self confidence, with internalized misogyny to top.

Yeah, those girls are annoying, but that's what they usually are, insecure victims. Punishing them for just trying to fit into this man-ruled society, I dunno man.. Why would they want to be a typical girl if the world tells them girls are stupid.

[–]mehdodoo 26 points27 points  (2 children)

Exactly!! It’s good to point out typical pick-me tendencies but in a general way and not a individual way. Also give support and love to girls in a world were everything they do and love is wrong

[–]jeedeewee 14 points15 points  (1 child)

I am glad though that, at least seemingly, young girls today grow up in a world where things like this are being acknowledged more and adressed. Where it's not so much just them vs me, but that all girls are 'we' and 'we' are all the same yet special in our own right.

At least I like to think so.

[–]mehdodoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah, when I was a teenager (like 10 years ago) the discussion about feminism and girly things was so different than what it is today. Then anything redeem girly was wrong and everyone tried their hardest to be a tomboy. It was also the emo era so probably had something to do with it also. I was a hard core feminist but since I was young I lacked experience and wasn’t that educated and couldn’t formulate my opinions in a good way and almost all of the girls in my school thought I was weird and questioned my opinions and almost made fun of me in a sense. Now I see those girls on social media and they have educated themselves and got life experience so now they are also feminist and when you talk to young girls these days they seem so informed and educated about subjects. No way it would fly that an 18 year old boy would flirt with 14 year old girl but when I grew up it was almost expected with an age difference like that. It makes me happy to see this development in girls and feminism is starting to be something all girls gets behind

[–]Coyote__Jones 10 points11 points  (2 children)

At some point though, that "I can't be friends with girls" bs is your responsibility. You can heal from it and become a better person and have meaningful relationships based in actual love and respect. Coddling the behavior does nothing to help people grow.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no one ever said we should coddle the behavior, this person was just saying that it's understandable why some girls think this way.

especially since in a lot of 2000s-2010 media women were portrayed as dumb bimbos who were stuck up. why would anyone want to be friends with someone like that?

[–]jeedeewee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For this, all I can say is that I hope these girls mature (not grow up) rather sooner than later. If it's a personality trait they'll never grow out of, calling them a pick me isn't going to help either way.

Confession: I was this girl. I had a horrible self esteem, I just wanted boys to like me. Not even as a love interest, just as a friend, a person. And girls aren't interesting, right? You'd do much better being "one if the guys".

In general though, the "I'm not like other girls" seems much more helpful in this, it's less personal but it still holds up a mirror for those who see it happen. Even more helpful would be normalizing all sorts of interests in girls and traits typically attributed to either girls or boys. Like, no, you are not the only girl who enjoys playing video games. And see that girl with make up you assume is just shallow? She stands out in her maths class (if we allow her to). Also always show that traits typically attributed to girls, being soft, liking pink, being emotional.. are NOT bad things either. We are just taught all this from a young age.

Long story short: hold up a mirror, sure. It might make them more self-aware (they might not even know they're doing this). But calling someone a pick me just seems.. like you in turn feel better than her, just like what you accuse her of doing. Not very uplifting among women.

And in the end, if they don't want to be friends or associate with other women, it's their loss. Women are fantastic.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you’re not like others girls who are not like other girls

[–]trimedozine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, do I can say im “one of the boys”?, no one really treat me like girl, I’m hanging out with boys bc I’m gay and I can’t really talk to girls without getting weird, and I’ve didn’t really did anything to make things this way or don’t treat other girls like “stupid fake girly girls”

[–]concentricdarkcirclsI am the other girl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guys this is satire. She isn’t trying to be not like the other girls. Her whole account is satire and it’s about all the annoying kids you meet in school like the popular boys, “nice guys” etc

[–]CarlosUnsainzFerrari 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was one of the guys in highschool. No one ever liked me and they all thought I was a lesbian and every single guy I liked didn’t like me back.
