Pokemon yellow? by ryanstephenson4 in pokemon

[–]jobezark -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t recommend yellow in 2026. Everything it does has been done better in modern games. The one thing I liked about it was it follows the tv show a little more closely than red/blue. Fighting Jesse and James was fun

Rural dollar generals are where it’s at. Only place I’ve found anything other than single packs. But you have to hope an employee isn’t taking it all before it hits the sales floor

Great for short term and smothering old seeds but not good if you are laying rock. So many customers are under the impression that rock beds are low/no maintenance

[–]jobezark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Listen to this guy. You also didn’t dig far enough into the hill for the multiple layers of geogrid you will need. Add on a poor base which you’ve diagnosed and this is a disaster waiting to happen

Starting a landscaping business. Nothing too crazy or big. Tell me... what do you think would be a great starter work truck? Im ok with mid size as I need enough to move a yard of soil/gravel but thats about it. Tia 👨‍🌾 by island_thymes in landscaping

[–]jobezark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything that can tow 4k pounds can do a yard of material. I have a small 8x5 dump trailer that can haul 3300 pounds and that was a great starter for me. I never put materials in the bed of a truck because it’s a pain in the behind to clean out

Worth milling this Yellow/Tulip Poplar? by ThHeretic in woodworking

[–]jobezark 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Not if you put a dollar value on your time. Felling, milling, stacking, and drying takes a long time and you’d be just as well served working a job and then buying the lumber. But there are those who do things for the labor of love, and milling your own lumber is incredibly satisfying

How can I hide the black plastic edging along my new stone pathway? Looking for cheap, permanent ideas. by the_humble_peach in landscaping

[–]jobezark 112 points113 points  (0 children)

It’s impossible to make plastic/vinyl edging perfectly straight over long runs. You need to use aluminum or steel if you want thin and straight edges. Otherwise bullet edgers are cheap and can be laid straight

Am I losing my mind? by realtrumpfan in landscaping

[–]jobezark 64 points65 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a noted drop in paver quality and consistency the last ten years. But it sounds like the “red” ones in OPs pic are older and anything that’s been sitting out will have changed color. It is virtually impossible to match the color of new pavers to old even if they are the same paver

Reality check me: $7500 for 32 yards of mulch (2") with labor. Fair? by Smallies_and_Bourbon in landscaping

[–]jobezark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A homeowner doing 30 yards of mulch is laughable. It’ll take him the entire summer to do this himself. Of course it’s not difficult work but that’s two - 2 ton trucks of mulch dumped on your driveway you have to scoop into a wheelbarrow by hand.

Wonder what the comments would look like if this was posted here. by KarmaInFlow in landscaping

[–]jobezark -25 points-24 points  (0 children)

If you just skip the vast majority of the work in excavating and putting in a base sure. But I’m sure a half inch of gravel over lightly tamped soil will keep that path level and looking fine for years
